5 Baby Shower Tips| My Baby Shower Photos
Baby showers are one of the events most looked forward to during a woman's pregnancy. From having one or two or more parties thrown for her, to the baby shower gifts she'll receive, the baby shower is an important event. Typically they are planned and hosted by the mummy-to-be's family and/or friends. These days, baby shower themes run from Parisian to Hawaiian Luau to a Tea Party like mine. Check out the photos below and some helpful tips for hosting a baby shower.

Berry and Cakes Statesboro Weekend
Road trips are always fun to embark on. As long as they can be, if you're with the right person or crew, you can have a car load of fun! Cakes and I have been on many road trips together (see here, here, here, and here). We've also gone with others on other trips, like when we visited Ibadan. While driving in Nigeria can be heart-pounding at times, driving across the US is a lot easier - mostly because of the good roads, and loads of places to rest if you need to.

Way Too Much Weekend FUN!
Guys!!!
Have you ever had those weekends that were full of so much activity, that you wouldn't know where to start from if you had to describe it? For those of you in Nigeria, I know you're currently having that weekend because of Independence Day festivities and events - which I listed as one of the things I miss most about Nigeria. Well, I had a FULL weekend! From Friday evening up until early Sunday morning, it felt like nonstop activity. As in, on Sunday I completely refused to do anything apart from go to church. I still hadn't even fully recovered from our weekend in DC, and now I added some more. As usual, the people who follow me on Snapchat and Instagram @BerryDakara saw all the action as it happened :)

Progress Report
Hi everyone!
I've officially been back in Atlanta for over a month now. Thursday was the one month mark. It's been an interesting month, I have to say. There have been good and not-so-good aspects of being back here. I'll share more below.
BTW, this post was originally supposed to go up last week Thursday but somehow it didn't get written. I actually had it scheduled in my blog planner. This is why I said in my review post that you actually have to use the planner.

It's not enough to make plans... you have to follow through and put them into action! Otherwise, they are just fanciful wishes or ideas. [Click to Tweet!]

My Favorite Creative Cakes by Cakes
There isn't anybody who reads my blog that doesn't know that my husband, who I fondly call Cakes, is a baker and cake designer in Lagos. From simple buttercream cakes to very creative cakes, commonly called character cakes. I know there's a time and place for everything, but I always wish his clients and customers would push the creative envelope. His team is very capable of making those kinds of cakes and I wish they had more orders for character cakes - but that's just me.
Today I'd like to share my favorite character cakes that have come from his bakery. I hope you like them as well.

Berry New Beginnings Weekend
Hiiiiiiiiii!
How are ya? My Monday's off to a funny start, but I'm praying for a great week regardless. What did you get up to this weekend? Mine was full of new beginnings for friends of mine - I went to a baby shower on Saturday, and yesterday was one of Cakes' best friend's introduction. For non-Nigerian readers, an Introduction is held after a guy proposes to his girlfriend - his family is required by tradition to visit her family to introduce themselves and make their intent known. It's pretty funny because it's usually stated as, "We're from so-and-so... our son was passing by and saw a very beautiful flower in your garden... we want to pluck the flower with your permission." LOL! It isn't usually a big event, but these days, affluent families are turning it into mini-weddings with canopies/tents, catering, new outfits for everybody, etc. For OUR introduction, I wasn't even there. I was in Lagos, and I heard about it afterwards. Oh well.
I don't have too many photos and didn't take any of myself this weekend - for some reason, Cakes and I "disagreed" quite a bit this weekend, so I did a lot of sulking. And sulking ain't cute, so no photos of me *hides face*

Berry Edo Weekend
Hello my dahlns!
I started to type this post yesterday (Sunday) night, and then Cakes saw how tired I was and forced me to go to bed. He's such a tyrant! But when I woke up this morning, I thanked God that I had been forced to sleep because I woke up sooooooo refreshed. How was your weekend? I hope you had a nice one.
If you follow me on Snapchat and Instagram (BERRYDAKARA for both media - and also Periscope too), then you saw all the fun I had this weekend. Cakes and I had a traditional wedding to attend in Edo State. Since he was making the traditional wedding cake, that meant, you guessed it, another road trip! I've gone on several road trips this year (see here, and here). I hope I don't have to go on more than one more this year. I mean, they're fun but they can be stressful. Maybe that's why I'm sitting at my laptop now, feeling under the weather.
Anyways, let's talk about the trip shall we?

Berry Indy Weekend
Hello Double D's!
I'm specifically calling you DD's today because on my last post someone referred to my large nose, and I responded with the fact that my nose isn't the only big feature on my person. :-| *chuckles to self*
Soooooooo, what did y'all get up to this weekend? My weekend started off packed, and was supposed to be full up until Sunday. And then, I went and ate chicken pie from a fast food place on Saturday afternoon... let's just say that by Saturday night, I was wondering if I was about to die. I was dizzy out of my mind for hours, and ended up throwing up in my friend's house - so embarrassing! Because of that, I canceled my plans and spent the whole of Sunday at home. Anyways, let's get on with the weekend shenanigans aye?

Berry Culinary Weekend
Hey y'all!
How are ya and how was your weekend? I hope none of you are hungry because this post is all food and nothing else! My darling friend invited me to an evening of learning how to make some gourmet, fine dining dishes at The Culinary Academy, and it was honestly a lot of fun! It took longer than I anticipated, but then again, we got there kinda late. Ah well, there was great company, wine, and lots of very very good food!

Berry Christmas Tree Weekend
Hello you very lovely person,
How are ya? How was your weekend? Tell me all the food you ate, because I ate a bunch of NONSENSE!!!!!!! I don't even feel sorry for myself, because I'm being really silly - why put in all the hard work at the gym throughout the week, and then mess it up with cake, ice cream, small chops, etc during the weekend?!?!? Somebody pray for me please!!!
Without further ado, let me share photos from the highlight of my weekend. Cakes had a wedding to attend - he made the wedding cakes and was also invited as a guest (meanwhile, how does someone who's married get an invitation for one person only? That's some "putting asunder" business, yo!)
Anyways, we spent the whole morning making cake deliveries before finally settling down for the wedding. These are just two of them.

Berry Trippy Weekend
Hiya!
How was your looooooooong holiday weekend (Nigerian readers)? Or your regular weekend for those who didn't have a holiday?
Soooo, here I am on Monday night, exhausted out of my mind. If you follow me on Instagram you already know why. And if not, it's because like I mentioned in this post, I was heading to Abuja for the weekend. What I didn't say was that Cakes and I were driving from Lagos! Yup, a 10-hour drive to attend my uncle's birthday party and deliver the 34 cakes they ordered. 33 small cakes for each table, and 1 large cake for the celebrant - unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo of all the cakes piled up in the car :(

Berry Late Weekend Post
Have you ever been so tired your eyelids twitch randomly throughout the day? That's been happening to me since the weekend! I haven't been sleeping well, and so I wake up tired and it's just been a yucky cycle. I would have looked forward to resting over the upcoming long holiday weekend, but Cakes and I will be out and about the whole time - ABUJA readers, Imma be in yo city! Please leave comments below where I can get a nice henna tattoo for a reasonable price :)
Anyways, my weekend was pretty alright. I didn't take a lot of photos, but I was busy almost nonstop. On Saturday, Cakes and I headed to a birthday party for a friend's one-year old. Can I just say that first-birthday parties are really just excuses for the parents to party :p? The baby doesn't know what's going on - just that there are a bunch of people around and a lot of activity. Well, I had fun at the party and ate way too much food. Here are a few snaps below.

Berry Dunno Weekend
Erm, first things first... I couldn't think of a catchy title for today's post. Hence the "Dunno" in the title. It's not like I don't know what I did this weekend :p
It was just kinda... I dunno... You get me? I think it was like that because of all the rain. I had a couple of things on my To-Do radar on Saturday, but the rain! Mehn, it poured! I was actually thisclose to simply canceling my plans and just staying home to cuddle with Cakes, but I had a wig to deliver! So I got dressed in my new ankara tunic/mini dress thingy - Cakes' friend bought the material for me after I GRACIOUSLY agreed to follow him to Daviva to buy fabric for his girlfriend and her mother. I'm like "Nna, I hope you know I'm not leaving here empty-handed." So he got me 2 yards of fabric - just like N1,100 or so. Mehn, I'm about to go and spend N5000 buying different 2-yds so I can make cute little outfits.

Berry Change-ful Weekend
Hey hey hey,

Mine was pre-ey full, innit? It almost seemed like the theme of my weekend centered on change. The first change I MUST tell you about is that I found out my husband has been chea-ing!!! I was in so much shock and uh-erly broken when I heard.

Berry Late Weekend
Hola amigos!!!!
Welcome back to delayed regularly scheduled programming. It's regularly-scheduled because it's a weekend update. But it's delayed because it was from the weekend before this past one :D Unless you want photos of me being a complete bum from this weekend? Exactly, let's all pretend I'm an ALWAYS fun and active person, shall we?
So the upper weekend, I had a full weekend, no joke. So much so, that it really tired me out and I didn't have any energy to blog at all. You've already seen some snippets from that weekend - the Lekki Market post, and also the Hear Word Naija review post. But that wasn't all I did.
On May Day, after I left Lekki Market, Cakes and I headed off to the beach to celebrate his mum's birthday. Unfortunately I didn't have any photos taken of me - I was just having a bad hair, bad skin, bad bloated tummy, bad no-photos-must-be-taken-of-me day, so just enjoy the photos of the yummy cake :D

Berry Inspired Weekend
Hiyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
How was your weekend?! I hope it was foine and dandy. Mine wasn't half-bad. Not as much activity as I'm used to, but I liked the easygoing pace. I had 2 conflicting things to do on Sunday - a makeup class (similar to the one being run by Chloe's Makeover) and a women's meetup to talk about personal finance. I couldn't decide which to go for, but ultimately went for the finance event = Money over Makeup! I'm still going to do the makeup thing at a later date though.
But before that, on Saturday, I lazed about at home. Cakes went on his deliveries and I gave my hair a little TLC, and decided to cook. The way I approach cooking usually is by deciding on a key ingredient I want to use, and then building the dish around it. I knew I wanted coconut milk, and decided to make a Sole and Vegetable Coconut Curry over a bed of Whole Wheat Spaghetti and Plantain - hehe, check me out, I'm fancy!

Berry Cake-filled Weekend
Yo yo,
So I said I didn't have much of a weekend update to post, because I had big big plans for it that didn't happen. On Saturday, I was invited to The House of Lux event, and I had other plans already (my friend's children's birthday party) - by the time we left, Cakes and I were exhausted and just weren't up to it. It's fine anyways because I saw photos and people were glam'd up, and I would have walked in there in denim shorts :p
Then Sunday, I had invites for The Eko Atlantic Beach Tournament, as well as an event for bloggers by Joel Lani Accessories. There was a combination of unfortunate things that caused me to stay home on Sunday. I won't tell you what exactly, but let's just say thank God I can eat food now and keep it in my stomach (TMI?).
Anyways, last week Cakes and his team of talented bakers made WONDERFUL cakes for my friend and her family. The comments ranged from "Wow, my expectations were exceeded!" to "Noooooooo, I don't want to cut the cake. It's too pretty!!!!!!!!"
BUT before I show you THOSE cakes, here are a couple he made the week or two before.
I mean, this cake is sooooooooooo cute!!! I love the colors! I actually commended the customer for ordering a different cake design from the orders Cakes usually gets.

Okay, the last 4 cakes are the ones for my friend - her children's birthdays are within 2 days of each other, and they had a birthday party on Saturday.
