Berry Indy Weekend

Hello Double D's!

I'm specifically calling you DD's today because on my last post someone referred to my large nose, and I responded with the fact that my nose isn't the only big feature on my person. :-| *chuckles to self*

Soooooooo, what did y'all get up to this weekend? My weekend started off packed, and was supposed to be full up until Sunday. And then, I went and ate chicken pie from a fast food place on Saturday afternoon... let's just say that by Saturday night, I was wondering if I was about to die. I was dizzy out of my mind for hours, and ended up throwing up in my friend's house - so embarrassing! Because of that, I canceled my plans and spent the whole of Sunday at home. Anyways, let's get on with the weekend shenanigans aye?

On Thursday, Independence Day, I spent most of the day at home. We had been invited to the Captive premiere event at House on the Rock. Before we went there, I needed a very quick mani. Meanwhile, my nails are so fragile. Any tips on what I can do? Maybe I need more calcium in my diet. Or iron? I dunno. Or nail hardener?

Back to the premiere...

We met this guy, I think his name is Timi. He runs Your Budgit, and their platform aims for transparency in the Nigerian government's budget.
Although the premiere was billed to start at 6pm, the movie didn't actually start until 8:30pm. As a result, Cakes and I left before the movie was done. I leave the house at 5:30am to head to work, so staying out late on a weekday is usually not an option for me. Ah well, the little I saw of the film had me intrigued.

On Friday, after work, Cakes and I had a birthday party to attend. It was held at a little restauranty jointy kinda place, 9ja Choyce. We had fun - the music was good, the company better, and I DANCED!!!

There's the pretty birthday girl, and her cake below :)

If anyone has video from that night, kindly delete and erase the memories of my dancing.

On Saturday, the plan was this: wake up early, follow Cakes to deliver cakes, go to a wedding, then head out to Muson Centre to watch a play with my friend. That was the plan. What ended up happening was...

Cakes went for karate class, but had to leave and rush to the bakery because all the cakes weren't done. By the time he got home, we were 2.5 hours late for the wedding. And then the car refused to start. Meanwhile, there were still cakes in the car to be delivered.

My getting dressed up and doing my makeup for the wedding ended up going to waste, as we didn't attend anymore. Whatever sha, I'm going to wear the exact same outfit to a wedding next week! How can I let a nice outfit like that pass you by? No way! Nehi! Non! Mba!

I didn't eat at home, because I thought we would still make it to the wedding reception. When it was clear that it wasn't going to happen, I decided on the chicken pie from that place - as I mentioned earlier, it gave me food poisoning, and all I could do for the rest of the day was try not to pass out during the London Life, Lagos Living play.

It was a nice play, and there were some parts where my friend and I were literally laughing with tears running down our faces! Unfortunately, the food poisoning kicked into full gear after the play and our night ended on a subdued note. Cakes had to come pick me up and basically carried me to the car cos I couldn't stand on my own, let alone walk. Booooooooooooooooo!

Ah well, that was my weekend. Have a berry pretty week!

Kiss kiss hug hug.

  6. Fun post - not so fun ending with the food poisoning. Please post dancing videos if you find one- lol. That pic of you leaning back just says it all! For nails - I echo the biotin recommendation along with checking your iron levels. One of the signs that I was lacking in my iron a few years ago was brittle nails that would always chip off. Iron and biotin have completely changed that for me. Start low in the biotin dosage - don't go crazy by taking 5000-10,000 mg. Start low and wait about 3 weeks to see if there are any positive changes and you shouldn't have to worry about an allergic reaction.

    1. You definitely should. There was also another musical the same weekend, but I didn't plan for it unfortunately. Lagos is doing very well in terms of performance arts.
