Our UK Family Holiday - Part 5 - Girls Day Out

Let's get right into the next part of my family's UK Holiday series, shall we?

Remember in my Travel Tips for Large Groups, I mentioned that you should schedule personal/alone time? On the Sunday while we were in England, we were all free to do anything we wanted. I decided to meet up with an old friend from secondary school (she blogs here), and a new friend from blogging (she blogs here).

We met up near here, which I've already blogged about.

Our UK Family Holiday - Part 4 - Buckingham Palace and London Eye

Guys!!!

I'm on a hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh!!! Game of Thrones is the best show in the history of television!!! The finale was all kinds of awesomeness!!! I'm going to be smiling for the next week... until I remember we have to wait until April for season 7 :(

Anyways, I'm continuing with the Brexit UK holiday snaps and history lessons today. On this particular day, I went to visit my Aunty Lili... her and my grandfather go waaaaay back... before she became the Queen of England. You know I have famous family members and friends, right? But just so I don't get kidnapped, I always keep a low profile. It's only you, my faithful readers, that really know what's up.

Life Lately

Hey there!

Can you believe the year is almost half done? In a little over a week, we'll officially be halfway through 2016! Have you accomplished the goals on your checklist? How do you feel about the year so far?

Well, for me, I've been largely fine. And as I learned this week, FINE = BAREST MINIMUM! As in, BASIC... Simply getting by. Nothing fantastic, great or awesome. Maybe it's because I've been in a little funk for the past few days, with my feelings coming out yesterday in an emotional outburst!

Truthfully, I've been second-guessing myself, feeling inadequate and less-than. My self-esteem is taking a battering, mostly self-induced. Instead of focusing on the positives, I've secretly been wallowing in the worries of my life as it is now.

Some of it stems from the lack of a job - if you haven't been there, being unemployed and job hunting can seriously take a lot from you. Sending out resumes and cover letters without getting call backs and interviews can hammer on your self-esteem.

Yesterday I broke down. I practically locked myself in a room and cried (while still writing cover letters and editing my resume :p). It took talking to my dad at the end of the day to stop the tears and self pity. I was reminded that job searches take time. As a matter of fact, I just read that on average, it takes 43 days - and some industries or job levels take even longer. For me, it's barely been 22 days and let's be honest, I haven't actively looked every single day.

Of course, there are other issues, such as the one I mentioned here, and the weight that won't go away (DUH! When I'm eating cake everyday and not exercising *rolls eyes*). I've even let it get to my blogging - I'm sure some of you have noticed. Sawrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!

But it's time to get off that pity horse and make changes where I can, and accept things that I cannot change by myself. Life is too short to wallow and sulk.

Besides,

P.S. Thanks to everyone who's been reading and leaving comments in my UK series!

Our UK Family Holiday Part 3 - Afternoon Tea

Hey there!

How was your weekend? I hope you had a fun one. Happy Father's Day to all the men out there who are touching lives and leading by example! We celebrated my dad, brother-in-law and Cakes by taking them out to brunch. How did you celebrate?

Today I'm continuing with our UK holiday, and this time I'm sharing photos from our fun-filled day at Afternoon Tea. If you haven't been following, check out Part 1 - Trafalgar Square, and Part 2 - Marble Arch. As usual, I'll share some stories in between and a little bit of history and fun anecdotes. Let's get started shall we?

Berry Lovely Links

Hola!

I hope your week's been good. Mine's been bleh as I'm battling a really bad toothache and eating is a struggle... maybe not the worst idea, since I've been feeling bad about gaining weight again.

Ah well, let's check out some links, shall we?

Our UK Family Holiday Part 2 - Marble Arch

Hiya!

In my last post, I shared photos from my family's first full day in England. We ended up at Trafalgar Square and enjoyed some street performers. We actually went down to Piccadilly Circus and Oxford Street, but didn't take any photos. I was in charge of the holiday calendar in London, and I made sure to include personal days. Check out my post on Travel Tips for Large Groups.

Our UK Holiday Part 1 - Trafalgar Square

Hello me dahlings!

I'm seriously trying to get back into the groove of my regular blog posts. While we were in the UK, my blogging schedule kinda suffered. Between all the traveling, sightseeing, and getting sick, I just couldn't post as much as I wanted to. And even after coming back, the zeal to edit the photos and videos was severely lacking. No joke, I have over 2300 photos from our time in England and Scotland! Since they are so many, I will break up the posts into different parts, and I hope you enjoy all of them.

ASK!

While doing a little reflecting recently, it came to my attention (again) that while many would call me a good friend, there's a particular habit that I think needs to change. As regular readers of my blog, it's fairly obvious that I'm a transparent person and it's not hard to air out my feelings or share my experiences. I have not always been so outspoken. In fact, I was painfully shy as a child. Even now, sometimes I get frozen in a corner if I'm in a room full of people I don't know. One of the ways I used to combat my shy nature was by being more outspoken. Being this way has its pros and cons.

Wura's Secret Hair Growth Oil

At the beginning of the year, I was gifted a bottle of Wura's Secret Oil. It is produced by someone I'm sure you're familiar with, as she's a Nigerian blogger and goes by the name of Tonkabelle. She runs the blog, Wura's Secret Hair, which is a blog devoted to all kinds of hair care.

REVIEW: Hard Rock Cafe Lagos

This mini review of Hard Rock Cafe Lagos is overdue. My friends and I had a Girls Night Out just before Valentine's Day. We went to Muson Center to watch a concert first - they started quite late, so we had to leave early. We had made reservations at Hard Rock Cafe and we were quite hungry. Prior to this, I had never been to any Hard Rock Cafe location. I guess I was just never really interested.

Hard Rock Cafe Lagos opened late last year, December I think. It has quickly become one of the IT spots - you go there to "see and be seen" from what I gather. We chose outside seating, which was pretty cool. There were tents and lounge chairs (not beds o - some people were really lying down like they were in their bedrooms). Inside, it was pretty loud and there were loads of people! I like the bar feeling/setting of the restaurant.

I can't remember what I ordered to drink, but it probably will not pass Chapman.

My friends had been there before, and order the suya chicken and chicken wings as appetizers. The suya chicken was very nice!

I wasn't a fan of the chicken wings though.

I ordered the fish and chips dish, which I must say was AMAZING!!! The fish was so crispy on the outside, yet soft on the inside that it melted in my mouth.

I thoroughly enjoyed my dish. My friends were not too keen on it, but they liked the dishes they ordered, so I can easily say that we all enjoyed our choices.

We also got desserts to share - a slice of carrot cake, and it was either a brownie or a slice of chocolate cake with ice cream.

By the time we were done, we were full out of our minds!!!! I wish I'd gone to Hard Rock Cafe a few more times before leaving. I'm not sure why I didn't have the zeal in the first place. But from my visit there, I look forward to going back whenever I come home for a visit.

Have you been to any Hard Rock Cafes around the world? What was your experience like?

Travel Tips for Large Groups

If you've been keeping up with my blog, you know that my family and I traveled together for the better part of a month. In all, there were 10 of us - 8 adults, 1 child and an infant. From road trips to long flights and train rides, we've had lots of fun (and also challenges). I thought I'd share some tips for traveling in large groups, based on our experiences.

My Encounter with Chiwetel Ejiofor!

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!!!! It's been a week since it happened but I'm still shaking with excitement! As in, tingly feet and fingers. Heart rate pumping, tummy filled with butterflies! It was certainly an experience. And it happened TWICE!!! Can you believe?!?!?!? It's not even like I had that big a crush on him before, but now........ OH MY DAAAAAAAAAAAAYS!!! Somebody give me a Chiwetel sandwich!
