BERRY VLOG - My Skincare Routine

One of the few things I miss about being pregnant is "the glow." As in, my skin was just yummy! A lot of pregnant women complain about their faces getting darker, but I personally didn't notice it until AFTER I gave birth to Baby Cocoa. From what I remember, my skin was the best it ever looked. Maybe it was due to being pregnant, or because I was forced to drink water, or my incorporating a skincare regimen. I mean, I was on bed rest, so I didn't have much to do anyways.

Easy Makeup with ZARON!

Finally back on Youtube! Because of you know, I stopped making videos until I was ready to announce you know. I'm still not on track to post on a weekly basis like I'd want to, but I'm reaching into my archives and putting up some old videos I made from before.

In this post, I played around with makeup (check out some of my beauty posts), and what's different about this is I used mostly Zaron Cosmestics products. If you're not aware of Zaron, it's a Nigerian beauty brand and I really like the products I've used from them so far. Y'all know I'm not a beauty guru o, so please don't be expecting some Dimma Umeh wonder here.

BERRY VLOG: Being Dark Skinned

Sometimes you see or hear a lot of negativity concerning dark skin, and equating it with being average or even less than! As a dark skinned beauty, I have had my tiny share of doubt about my complexion, but thankfully it was a short phase and I love it. In today's world where many young girls are being told their dark skin is ugly, I'm here to say YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!!!

What do YOU think about Plastic Surgery?

Last weekend I was watching one of my favorite vloggers on Youtube. Patricia Bright made a video talking about the different cosmetic procedures she's had done over the years. They range from getting breast augmentation to fixing her teeth and more.

It's a pretty long video, but in summary I appreciated the way she approached the subject. She knows that not everyone will agree with her choices, but they were HER choices to make. She had people send in questions, which she answered and I didn't think to ask a question until I was watching the video. My question revolves around Christianity and plastic surgery.

BERRY VLOG: The 5-Minute Makeup Challenge

A few months ago my sister and I decided to do the 5-Minute Makeup Challenge that was going around on Youtube. We both enjoy makeup, even though we're not pro's - I do have to say that Tammy is way better at it than I am though. I had seen other people do it on Youtube and thought it would be an easy feat, but as you can tell in the video - it really isn't!

Oh, and I found out I had been using the worst BB cream ever when I saw my final results! Has that ever happened to you - thinking you look fly and then looking in the mirror (or seeing video) and seeing how horrendous you actually look?! Ah well. The BEST Saturday I've Had in a While

Right now, as I type, it's Saturday night. I feel light and airy, and it's been a while since I've felt this way. I hope come Thursday, as you read this and leave comments, I still feel the same way. Bold and Beautiful

Do any of you watch the show The Bold and the Beautiful? Or is everyone all about the Indian soaps and Hispanic telenovelas these days? I've never followed The Bold and the Beautiful, but I thought that today's post fit with the title of the show.

My friends (and some family members) have always thought that I have a crazy bone in me. Mostly because I'm the dictionary's definition of random. But sometimes, they're still shocked when I do something new... like my current hairstyle. The grey hair trend has been in full swing since last year, but it wasn't until earlier this year that it occurred to me that I could also rock the hair color.

I went and bought Femi collection Kinky Twist Braid hair in Color 44. My cousin did my cornrows, and my other sister and I crocheted the hair in. We were skyping with our parents while doing the hair, and they both kept shaking their heads and wondering which alien ship dropped me in their laps. :p My mum kept asking why, and my reason is this - right now, I'm between jobs. If I'm going to do anything crazy, now is the time. Shey I'm making sense?

Anyways, I loved the results!

Berry Beautiful Weekend

Hey everyone,

How was Christmas for ya? Who had fun? Did you get or give any exciting presents? Let me know in the comments. This was supposed to be a great weekend for me - the looooong holiday, Christmas, and then our anniversary (thanks for the well wishes by the way). Unfortunately, I started feeling funny on Thursday evening and by Christmas morning, I was officially sick. It's Sunday night now and I'm still pretty low. Cakes wanted to take me out to lunch today but I felt so weak and tired, that I simply said we should buy small chops at church and go home. We can always celebrate another day, aye?

Anyway, the other weekend I had a few events I wanted to hit in one day.

BERRY BEAUTY - GRWM for TBC Connect

As you know, the TBC Connect event was a few weeks ago. I blogged about it here, and if you check around Blogsville, you'll see a few other posts on different blogs about the event.

Anyways, I got there pretty early for the event - about 4.5 hours early actually. Cakes had cakes to deliver and wasn't sure when he'd get back to the venue, so we decided I should head to Ethnic Heritage Centre early. Since I had so much time on my hands, I decided to take photos of every step of my makeup process. That's what GRWM means - Get Ready With Me. So there you have it, I'm sharing photos of my makeup process. Forgive me, but I don't have a very nice shot of the end product *hides face*

BERRY BEAUTY: Eyebrows Class at Luxe Beauty Lounge

Eyebrows on fleek anyone?

If you're social media conscious, and into makeup and beauty, you know that one of the "greatest" achievements is getting your eyebrows looking as fleeky as possible. Lol, that didn't sound right but you get the gist. In Nigeria here, where women are generally image conscious, you see a lot of us doing everything possible to look good - eyebrows on fleek, check; winged liner on fleek, check; matte lips on fleek, check.... it's all about the fleekdom. *rolls eyes*

Anyways, a couple of weeks ago, I mentioned the free eyebrows class happening at Luxe Beauty Lounge in Lekki. The last time I went to a makeup class was st Stella's Addiction's studio. While I learned a lot there, I still felt (and feel) that I need more practice and help. I watch tutorials on Youtube sometimes, but there's nothing like having a live teacher in front of you. A lot of makeup classes are springing up all over Lagos and Abuja, but I find that most of them aren't hands-on. I think the best way to learn these skills is via classes that allow you to practice at the same time. I'm not knocking classes where they show you and you watch, but that's only slightly better than watching Youtube videos.

Berry Edo Weekend

Hello my dahlns!

I started to type this post yesterday (Sunday) night, and then Cakes saw how tired I was and forced me to go to bed. He's such a tyrant! But when I woke up this morning, I thanked God that I had been forced to sleep because I woke up sooooooo refreshed. How was your weekend? I hope you had a nice one.

If you follow me on Snapchat and Instagram (BERRYDAKARA for both media - and also Periscope too), then you saw all the fun I had this weekend. Cakes and I had a traditional wedding to attend in Edo State. Since he was making the traditional wedding cake, that meant, you guessed it, another road trip! I've gone on several road trips this year (see here, and here). I hope I don't have to go on more than one more this year. I mean, they're fun but they can be stressful. Maybe that's why I'm sitting at my laptop now, feeling under the weather.

Anyways, let's talk about the trip shall we?

Soooooooo, what did y'all get up to this weekend? My weekend started off packed, and was supposed to be full up until Sunday. And then, I went and ate chicken pie from a fast food place on Saturday afternoon... let's just say that by Saturday night, I was wondering if I was about to die. I was dizzy out of my mind for hours, and ended up throwing up in my friend's house - so embarrassing! Because of that, I canceled my plans and spent the whole of Sunday at home. Anyways, let's get on with the weekend shenanigans aye?
