So we went to Dubai... Part 2

Enh heh, as I was saying about Dubai... See Part 1 here

Soooooo, on our second day of Dubai fun, we had scheduled a full day of touring! It's best to research different tour options and make your booking before you get there, so that it's one less thing to worry about. Different tour operators have different activities, so decide what you'd most like to see or do. Another reason why I scheduled this tour for early in our trip was because the daytime tour would take us around the city of Dubai and help give us a bearing for moving around the last 2 days of our trip. Our tours were handled by Dubai Online Vacations and it was a package that included a daytime tour of the city and a desert safari tour in from late afternoon to evening. IT WAS SOOOOOOOO FUN!!!!

Our hotel, Corps Al Khoory was nice and comfortable. I wish they had better breakfast food, but that's just me being a glutton and wanting customized omelettes and crepes :p We were contacted the day before by our tour operators, letting us know what time we'd be picked up, so we woke up early and had breakfast - ready to see the beauty of Dubai.

Kisses and peace to you dude

There is NO violence in THIS elevator! Ray Rice and Solange, I'm talking to you.
Ready to go a-touring

During the daytime tour, we were able to pinpoint locations we'd want to go back to, such as the Gold Souk (pictures will be in Part 3). We visited old Dubai (no pictures), went to a museum (I learned that Dubai only found oil in the last few decades, just like Nigeria, so why is this country the way it is?); we also drove by Palm Jumeira and Atlantis, and got a photo op at the Burj Khalifa, as well as the Burj Al Arab. It would have been nice to stop at these different places instead of just driving by and looking from afar or from the car, but time restrictions I guess?

Hey good looking! Oh, you thought I meant you? I meant me! Oops!
Let's roll out!
The Gold Souk was first, then we drove through some areas of Old Dubai before getting to the museum.
This is us outside the museum

Somebody CAN'T allow me to have the spotlight :p
He's not frowning, it was just blawdy hot!
This is from inside the museum
After the museum, we drove some more, passing the Jumeria mosque and Al somebody road which they said was a rich area of Dubai. Then we pulled up at a tiny beach not too far from Burj Al Arab.
Woot woot, the Burj Al Arab and a photo bomber

Of course a selfie was in order

I mean, I wish I had a better jumping shot :( I look so razz

After the BAA, we headed to Palm Jumeira, which is a part of Dubai that's built like a palm frond - now this is where the expensive apartments are!!! Fashi, it would be nice to have enough money to live there o. You guys should help me to pray that I can afford it one day and invite you over for lunch.

Source - This is what it looks like from an aerial view. There are 2 others like this, but they're bigger.
In front of Atlantis. We didn't go in as that wasn't part of our tour. I didn't mind cos I've been to the one in the Bahamas.

Then we moved on to the Dubai Mall area... and TA DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Woot woot, it's the Burj Khalifa!
Ah, my guy, how far na? I see you.

*insert record scratching sound*
Attention please, attention please... Kindly note the last 3 pictures. What do you see? Cakes and the Burj Khalifa, right? Cakes and the tip of the Burj Khalifa, right? Now, just see my own pictures of me and the Burj Khalifa, and tell me who the better photographer is.
Exactly. *rolls eyes*

'Nuff said

I'm still in pain for my missed opportunity.

At least there's this nice shot of me by this fountain
Soaking up the sun's rays :) MAKE SURE your lotions and makeup has SPF!!!

By the time we got back to our hotel, we were hot and sticky and tired, so we showered, ate and took a much needed nap. We woke up just in time for the driver to pick us up for the desert safari tour. FUNNEST part of our vacation!!! We drove through the sand dunes, rode on a camel (for like 30 seconds, but at least I've gotten on a camel!), did a little shopping, and concluded at a bedouin camp, where we watched dancers and ate some authentic Middle Eastern food.

Cakes the Sheik - How YOU doin?

We had another couple sharing our tour. It's cheaper than a private tour.

Us and our driver, whose name I can't remember :( Jameel?

Woot woot! Sand dune riding :) An exhilarating ride!
We drove by a camel farm. My camels names are Obinna and Joe.

Look at Obinna on the right hiding. He's a shy camel.
Sheik Cakes and his Lady Berry

Fun new way to take our ussie

Yoo hoo, I'm right behind you!

Co-tourists
Sheik Usain Bolt and Joe.

Ah, Obinna showed face
Yes, I'm taking your picture AND a selfie!!!!!!!!!!
If you don't jump on holiday where will you jump?
Erm, the jumping was a lil bit off
Readyyyyyyyyy....
Jump!!!
Jump again!
Whaddup yo? Peace in the Middle East... literally.
Twirling in the desert
More twirling (another fun activity for holidays)
Oya, Obinna and Joe, I have to start leaving. M na bia.

Won't I do well as a Toyota brand ambassador?

At this time we had gotten to the bedouin camp where other tour operators stop too
Look at the sun setting on top my head :)
We went in and grabbed our table before other activities

Selfie before getting my henna tattoo
Isn't it pretty?!?!? I want another one :(
Oh yeah, some dude on an ATV
Oh wait! It's Sheik Cakes!
P.S. He ran into some other rider o. You people should warn him about his driving.

Cakes took so long on the silly ATV that it was already dark by the time we got on the camel *angry face*
You should see the video of this guy. They dance spinning round and round, without getting dizzy. I'll post the video on Instagram.
Dinner is served. It wasn't bad or great.
After the tour, we opted to drop off at Dubai Mall, so that we could finally see the fountains and get some shopping done. I was a little underwhelmed by the fountains because it was so short, but it was pretty for what it's worth. Cakes got some nice items at the mall, and then we headed home in sheer exhaustion!

This is the only  picture of me with the tip of the Burj Khalifa.
STARBUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Another very necessary MUST-DO on vacay.
Okay, the final part of our Dubai trip is not as interesting as this day was, but I'll post the "story" and pictures later.

  16. Berry do u mind if I ask u if ur mind ever flashes back on that family friend guy that were falling DAT sorta broke ur heart before cakes, and when u do what are ur exact thots? Cos I might be in a similar situation and I wonder if it will get better and actually find someone that will make u say phew! 1. I don't mind :)

Yes, occasionally, he does. For up to a year afterwards, my exact thoughts were feelings of betrayal and anger, and sometimes wondering what could have been. But for a while now, it's been fleeting thoughts and I remind myself that if I had ended up with him, I might have been scared every time he left the house or made a phone call that he was cheating. I really don't think about him much anymore, and have been able to largely move on from the anger and hurt I initially felt.

Besides, Cakes is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better for me. There are still growing pains from being married to someone who's different from you and does things differently, but what matters is that we work it out.

    1. Lol, you don't need to be married to go to Dubai. Nothing, certainly not marriage or singledom, stops you from traveling!

  18. What a jam-packed day! You're a professional tourist; I salute you! Loooove the pic of the sand dunes that looks like it's taken from inside the car. Your shots of Cakes the Sheik (love the nickname!) with that super tall building are far superior to his of you!

  19. Berry, it was all your fault!!! Before the vacation, you should have given Cakes a two day crash training on "Taking better pictures" anyway this will be a lesson :P

+ You guys had sooo much fun!
