Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Anita - however, I have had almost 25 nicknames in the past ranging from Anita Baker to MzzNita to Buttermint to Berry Choco Latte. I think it's time for a new nickname that will stick.
BERRY DAKARA
- It sounds VERY similar to my middle name.
- It fuses my Ogoni (dad) and Igbo (mum) heritage together. How so? Berry's an Anglicized short form of one of my Igbo names. And Dakara's also short for my Ogoni name. The only thing missing is my Itsekiri heritage (maternal grandmother). But it might be doing a little much - Berry Dakara Misan? Let's stick to Berry Dakara.
Continuing with the introduction, I have another blog titled "The Aje-Butter's Guide to NYSC" which I started to give a little insight to others who wanted to know more about registering for the one-year service to Nigeria program. It was my second foray into blogging - erm, let's not go into my first blog, which I ended up deleting after 2 or 3 posts. I won an e-award - the popular vote for Best Tutorial Blog via the annual Nigerian Blog Awards. I was also featured in an article on Bella Naija (click here to see). I found that I enjoy blogging/writing and wanted to continue in a more generalized manner. And so we have this one :D
I originally wanted to call it Berry's Five F's - the F's being Fashion, Food, Faith, Fun, Family/Friends! These are all things I love and the intent was to blog at least 5 days a week, with each section getting a post every week. But that's still putting me in a box, so I'll just start off with posts and if I feel the need to categorize things later, I shall.
What's the point of this blog, you ask? Well, it's just me being me. There'll be all sorts of random things - whatever comes to mind. I'll blog (and maybe even VLOG) about anything I feel like and hopefully keep you coming back and chilling with me.
First random thought of the year: Why do people insist on putting trash cans opposite bathroom mirrors? It means there's a trash can somewhere in almost every shot I take.
Second random thought: Maybe I should cease and desist from taking pictures in the bathroom...
