My Notes from the VANE STYLE CLINIC by Veronica Odeka

Two weekends ago, I attended the Vane Style Clinic, run by professional stylist Veronica Odeka. I promised that I would share my notes from the event on how to have a great sense of style. I came across the style clinic online, and it seemed interesting, so I sent an email to find out what the ticket cost was - I was surprised to learn that it was just N2000. I quickly paid and secured my space, as the event was limited to about 20 people or so.

It rained heavily that day, but I was determined to show up and ended up being the first guest there. The event was held at The Social Place (which I've been to sooooooo many times for different events). When I walked in, they were still setting up but the decor was very girly and pretty (the set designed by The Wedding Guruu, who you may remember from my Brides Day Out post).

I don't know why whenever I start a post, I burst into song :-|

I've got that itch again!!!!

Around this time last year, I kept feeling bored and irritated with my blog - specifically the blog design (so much so that I actually wrote two posts about it here and here). I was using a generic template from Blogger, that kinda reminded me of wallpaper. In my mind when I chose that template, I was welcoming readers into my little living room for a bit of gisting and chatting. But then right around my birthday, I got this overwhelming feeling to change the look and feel of the blog. I played around with things and here we are now.

BUT...

REVIEW: Ajali Lip Balm and Lip Scrub

Did I ever tell you guys that one of my nicknames was KMQ? Who wants to guess what it stands for? I bet nobody can guess so I'll help you out... Kiss Me Quick. LOL! My cousin/friend said my lips were always very attractive and looked like they were always ready for kissing!

Anyways, they're one of my favorite features and so I like to make sure they're very well taken care of. I used to (and still occasionally) use Vaseline for my lips but sometimes I worry about the Petroleum jelly component, as it's not very good for you. Additionally, Vaseline isn't great for when you're using a matte lipstick or lip balm. Sometime last year I searched for all-natural lip balms and most of them were DIY, but I wasn't about to go looking for beeswax. Luckily I found one made right here in Nigeria! Enter Ajali Handmade Naturals.

Berry Dunno Weekend

Erm, first things first... I couldn't think of a catchy title for today's post. Hence the "Dunno" in the title. It's not like I don't know what I did this weekend :p

It was just kinda... I dunno... You get me? I think it was like that because of all the rain. I had a couple of things on my To-Do radar on Saturday, but the rain! Mehn, it poured! I was actually thisclose to simply canceling my plans and just staying home to cuddle with Cakes, but I had a wig to deliver! So I got dressed in my new ankara tunic/mini dress thingy - Cakes' friend bought the material for me after I GRACIOUSLY agreed to follow him to Daviva to buy fabric for his girlfriend and her mother. I'm like "Nna, I hope you know I'm not leaving here empty-handed." So he got me 2 yards of fabric - just like N1,100 or so. Mehn, I'm about to go and spend N5000 buying different 2-yds so I can make cute little outfits.

Berry Lovely Links

Hello dahlings!!!

I was really hoping to post this yesterday, but I got food poisoning on Monday!!! It wasn't even funny. So on Tuesday, when I should have been brushing up on the post, I was weak and recuperating. Anyways, I hope you like the links this week.

Speaking of hoping you like the links - should I ask what kinda links you'd like to see more of? Sometimes I worry my links are more oriented towards women. Is this true or in my head?

Salon Day Out - Photos

So here are the Salon Day Out photos from my weekend post from last week. There were quite a number of pictures, so I've put them into collages.

The event was put together by Dabs of Naija Hair Can Grow for her blog's 5th anniversary. She also owns the Savvy Chic Hair and Beauty Hub, which is a salon as well as shop for hair and beauty products.

Berry Change-ful Weekend

Hey hey hey,

How are ya Dakara Dahlings?!?!?! Yes I'm using my fake Bri-ish accent, innit? Screw blokes who haye (Bri-ish accent for "hate") on accents innit? How was your weekend? Mahvelous, I hope! Mine was pre-ey full, innit? It almost seemed like the theme of my weekend centered on change. The first change I MUST tell you about is that I found out my husband has been chea-ing!!! I was in so much shock and uh-erly broken when I heard.

Caught in the Accent!

Hey hey,

In my weekend post, I mentioned that I went to Salon Day Out this past Sunday. When I got there, the venue was pretty full but not as crowded as it eventually got (big ups to Dabs!). Anyways, while the first part of the program was underway, I was in the audience moving around, taking pictures and chatting with a few people. At some point, I stood near this guy who struck up a conversation. He asked about my camera, kinda dissed my photography skills and made some weird remarks about some of females in attendance - he was trying to be funny. After a few minutes, I moved on to another part of the room.

Anyways, maybe an hour later, it was my turn on stage, so that Dabs and the Savvy Chic Hair and Beauty Team could complete the instant faux locs. It turned out the guy from earlier was the MC (not a funny one, I might add), and during the different presentations, he asked questions to keep the audience engaged. So he asks me something (I can't remember), and I answered. The next thing I hear from him is...

REVIEW: Rhapsody's, VI

In my last Weekend post, I mentioned that Cakes and I had an impromptu date night and ended up having dinner at Rhapsody's, in Victoria Island. I was a little hesitant about going there honestly, because from what I remembered last year, it would get full very quickly and you needed a reservation. Cakes kept insisting though, and ultimately, I'm glad he did.

Berry Long Weekend

Bonjour ma petite jolie!

Comment ca va?

How'd your weekend go? Mine was a long one. Well, not long per se. Just full. And because it was so full, and I had stuff to do everyday, it felt long. Trust me, I slept like a baby last night from sheer exhaustion! So let's have a quick round-up shall we?

Instant Faux Locs LIVE at Salon Day Out

Hiyaaaaa!

How's your weekend going? I hope it's pretty. I just had brunch - scrambled egg, sausage and avocado toast with a cold, refreshing smirnoff ice :)

Yesterday I got most of my faux locs done at Savvy Chic Hair and Beauty Salon (30 Norman Williams, Ikoyi). It didn't take the usual 50 million hours to do, because Dabs (Naija Hair Can Grow) has created a method that literally cuts the time in half! The rest of my hair will be completed in a live demonstration tomorrow at Salon Day Out, in Oriental Hotel and starts at 12pm. Tickets are just N500 and are redeemable at any of the vendors' stands!
If you're in Lagos, I hope to see you there. Make sure you say hi :)

Sooooo do I look like Lauryn Hill from The Fugees days or what?

I'm BACK!!!

Hi guys!

I'm back - did I mention that already?

First of all, Boooooooooo!!!!! Boo to the silly guy who made me lose my earring yesterday cos I was raking for him! Somebody should tell Nigerian pedestrians the purpose of sidewalks!!! I wish I had super powers, cos I would have pulverized him into the concrete yesterday!!!!! Imagine, my first day back and somebody was trying me. *hiss*

*WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSAH!!!*

Okay, I'm done being annoyed. So I'm back to a lot of things.

Back to Cakes Wakesy (he made me a surprise birthday cake yesterday, which people on Instagram seem to love - what is with Nigerians and food, or is it cakes?).

Follow me on Instagram
Back to work (*le sigh) but thank God for a job that doesn't make me cringe or cry.

Almost back to my fitness routine (once I overcome jet lag).

Back to playing Candy Crush - not like I ever stopped (yeah, I lied about breaking up with CC). In fact, I downloaded Candy Crush Soda too, so wa'eva!

Back to you guys cos I luh you like dat!

But most importantly, I'm back to crushing on Nollywood actor, JOSEPH BENJAMIN! Do you guys know how fine he is?! Like, seriously! He's the real definition of tall, dark and handsome :D I got distracted for a second by the Igbo boys (Flavour and Phyno), but it's time to go back to my roots, as he was the first Nigerian actor that caused butterflies in my tummy. Where is this coming from, you ask? Desperate Housewives Africa (I saw a few minutes of the first episode, and JB walked in and I lost my breath for a second).

Okay, lemme stop blabbing. The point is I'm back. I hope your week is going well :)

P.S. Please don't tell Cakes about the last paragraph.

P.P.S. Cakes, if you've read this, please have selective amnesia and forget the last paragraph. I love you more than cake and ice cream, and a tiny bit more than ripe boli and fish.

Berry High Birthday Weekend

Good mornterneving everyone!!!

How are you? Thanks so much for the birthday wishes - y'all are awesomely berryful! How was your weekend? What/who/where did you see/do/go? I didn't get up to much for my birthday. I went to the dentist - who goes to the dentist on their birthday?!?!?!? NEVER EVER AGAIN!!! And then in the evening, my sister was very sweet to order dinner at her house, and we got some yummy cupcakes too :)
