Renting Out My New House or Moving In?

 Hi there!

It's been a little bit of time since I bought my first home (thanks to everyone for the well wishes!). I've had a few inquiries about when I'm moving in and when the housewarming party is, LOL! As much as I would have loved to host a cute housewarming party and get house gifts, I have decided to rent out the house as opposed to moving in with Coco.

Check out my latest YouTube video to find out my reasons behind the decision to rent out versus moving in.

P.S. Coco is NOT a fan of my decision.

BERRY VLOG: First Home Closing Day and Empty House Tour

Hi there!

After posting numerous videos of what my house looks like on Instagram stories, I have finally put together a short vlog of my empty house tour. I also shared snippets of the day I closed on my house. I'm hoping to share a couple more home-owner related videos in the coming weeks or months.

P.S. I should say that I watched a few other empty house tours on Youtube and I'm not going to lie, I actually wondered if I should even bother with mine.

DISCOVER GEORGIA: Pettit Creek Farms Pumpkin Fest

It's been a while since I put up a Discover Georgia post. These posts are to showcase some of the different places and/or events in Georgia, and to show you that Georgia is more than just Atlanta. In this post I'm sharing a few photos from our trip to Pettit Creek Farms.

How Early Is Too Early for Makeup

As an impending parent a few years ago, if anyone had asked me how early I'd allow my child to wear makeup, I might have said maybe when she reached the double digits (10) or maybe even teenage years. It wasn't something I was necessarily beholden to, but somewhere in my mind, I think that would have been my answer. This comes from my thoughts that kids are growing up seemingly much faster than previous generations, as well as the not-so-great effects of social media on their minds, confidence and self-esteem.

If Not Now, Then When?

 Hey there,

It's been a little while and I apologize for being AWOL. I don't know if I mentioned on here that I started a new job last month (I probably didn't seeing as I've been MIA) and the new schedule is taking a little getting used to - imagine needing to get used to working regular 8am to 5pm hours! Chai, I tried in my previous role o. Anyways, I'm here today to ask you, "If not now, then when?"

A Throwback and a Giveaway!

 It's Throwback Thursday!!!!!!!!!!

Who remembers how I started blogging in the very first place?

If you don't remember, I'm about to remind you - The Aje-Butter's Guide to NYSC blog! In case you're newer, I started blogging in December 2011 about my NYSC service year (see my very first blog post ever!). I moved back to Nigeria in June 2011 to start NYSC and decided to blog about my experience. After the year was over, I had enjoyed blogging so much, I decided to start this one. I've spent the last hour going through that old blog and JEAN-CLAUDE VAN DAMN, I was a TOTAL HOTTIE (see photos from this post where I re-rocked my NYSC uniform in different ways)!!!! Please somebody should help me figure out how to get that body back with minimal effort. Thanks in advance.

Slow Progress is still Progress

Can we talk money for a second?

This time 5 years ago, I had just moved back to the US and had no money. It took a good 5 months before I was hired in a low-paying job. Before I got here, my previous employer back home in Nigeria hadn't paid me for 5 months, so when I say I had no money, I really mean I HAD NO MONEY!

To Date or Not to Date?

What's up beautiful people? I hope you had a nice weekend. It's your Berrylicious blogger/podcaster again (duh this is my blog) and today I want to address dating when your marriage is over. I can say that for the past maybe year or two, I've been asked several times when I'll start dating again and my answer has always been...

A Funny Thing Happened

 Happy Post-Valentine's Day everyone!!!

Okay, y'all need to spill the beans - who got engaged, married, or will announce in 3 months that she's expecting a bundle of joy? LOL! I didn't do anything but work - I'm working weekends this month so I sat at home with my child and worked the whole entire day. But I had loads of fun on social media!

With time...

Almost 3 years ago to the day, I called up my friend from church and asked if she had any openings available at her salon. She did and I skipped over (drove actually), sat in her chair and said, "Please cut my hair."

Valentine's Day for Single Moms

Happy February ladies and gentlemen! It appears that the month of love is upon us. In just 13 short days, we shall be bombarded with photos and videos of flowers, rings, chocolates, cars and the like all over social media. Even though I no longer have a romantic partner, I still look forward to Valentine's Day. I'm not even sure why though - maybe just the pseudo-holiday factor? Anyway, I was chatting with a certain family member last week that said single people need to leave Valentine's Day alone, as it's supposed to be for people in relationships (and children because kids are allowed to celebrate everything apparently). I disagreed and I told her I think anyone who wants to celebrate Valentine's Day should do so, inhcluding single mothers like me. As a matter of fact, I've decided to share 7 ideas for single moms who want to celebrate Valentine's Day.

Thanks for the Memories?

Last week while reading a passage from the Bible, I happened upon this verse:

This famine will be so severe that even the memory of the good years will be erased.

Genesis 41:31 NLT

The verse is from Joseph's interpretation of Pharaoh's dreams. I've read the story countless times as a child but for some reason, this time around it hit me differently. This time I likened it to the end of a marriage. BTW, I promise I'm not becoming "Divorce girl" and will write about other things as well - if you've been a longtime follower though, you know that I write from my thoughts and experiences.

On Glorifying Divorce

This is not a disclaimer but I feel the need to preface this post by saying that I'm not an advocate for divorce. As in, if someone tells me they are having issues in their marriage, my first thought isn't "Y'all should probably get divorced." Unless there's a case of abuse, I would advise the couple to try and work things out - pray, go to therapy, talk to their mentors if they have, etc - especially if they have offspring. I hope you understand my position. That being said...

Going Back to Berry

Hey people!

How are y'all doing? This year has already been a lot and we're barely a week into it. I've been joking that it's after I got my passport that these people want to useless Hamrika for me. They need to stop it please and thanks. I didn't wait over two decades to now start looking for how to move to Trudeau-land! Anyway, let's just be praying for peace in the land so I can enjoy this place.

Happy New Year!

 Hiya folks!

2020 was pretty good to me.
