Cassie Daves Blog Planner

This post about having a blog planner has been a long time coming. When I started blogging, I would put up posts randomly, without any set schedule. I think it worked for me for a good while, but at some point, I wanted a bit more structure. I had a little notebook where I wrote everything, and I saved the last few pages for blogging - those pages had my list of post ideas, but not a schedule. I didn't think I needed, or even wanted a planner specifically for my blog. In general, I haven't done very well with planners - I barely even use calendars to be honest, although I'm really trying to use Google Calendar.

But when Cassie mentioned this project she was working on, I was very very impressed. I determined to support her by buying one, even if I wasn't sure I'd use it. And here's the thing... if you have the planner but all you're doing is looking at it, or making plans without any implementation or really utilizing the planner, then it's a waste of time. However, if you are serious about getting better structure with your blog, you need the Cassie Daves Blog Planner!!!

Discover Georgia: Zoo Atlanta

Hi everyone!

A couple of weekends ago, my sister and her family (plus inlaws) planned a trip to Zoo Atlanta. I took a few photos and I've decided to use this post as part of my DISCOVER GEORGIA series. Whenever I go somewhere within Georgia, even if it's next door and I think it's worth spotlighting, I'll add it to the series, so that you my wonderful readers can get a sense of what it's like here.

Happy Easter!

Hello friends,

I wish you a wonderful Easter celebration today. Let's all take this time to remember and be grateful for the sacrifice and victory of salvation through Jesus Christ. Here in The States, it's more about the Easter Bunny and Easter Eggs - I found out here that this tradition actually comes from churches of old! But, like Christmas, it's important to remember the reason for the season.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!!!!

I can't even lie, I'm missing being in Nigeria right now. The number of parties and events happening this weekend are astounding! Plus the holiday today and Monday are non-existent in Hamrika - it's not as if I'm working, so which one is my own, right? But I'm looking forward to church on Sunday!

As usual, here are some interesting articles and posts I read online in the past week.

On Adulting

Hi there!

I'm sure some of you reading this are wondering if I've started making up words and gone crazy. Like, what the heck is "Adulting?" You should see the squiggly red underline staring angrily at me right now. You know? The one that shows incorrect spellings.

Well, it turns out that "Adulting" is a newly coined word from 2014, that millennials are throwing around. I first heard it a month or two ago from my sister in this post. By the way, for those that guessed I'm 8 years older than her, you're CORRECT!!! I wish you were winning a prize but I'm jobless right now, so I think YOU should give me a prize.

Anyways, Urban Dictionary defines Adulting as:

(Verb)- To do grown up things and hold responsibilities such as a full-time job,
a mortgage/rent, car payment, or anything else that makes one think of grown ups.

But erm, isn't this just plain growing up? Maybe I'm an old head and I don't know anything, but really, some things are just silly.

I must admit that I agree with this photo below though.

For kicks though, tell me how you're adulting today. :D

Also share the random words you've come across that you think are silly.

Bold and Beautiful

Do any of you watch the show The Bold and the Beautiful? Or is everyone all about the Indian soaps and Hispanic telenovelas these days? I've never followed The Bold and the Beautiful, but I thought that today's post fit with the title of the show.

My friends (and some family members) have always thought that I have a crazy bone in me. Mostly because I'm the dictionary's definition of random. But sometimes, they're still shocked when I do something new... like my current hairstyle. The grey hair trend has been in full swing since last year, but it wasn't until earlier this year that it occurred to me that I could also rock the hair color.

I went and bought Femi collection Kinky Twist Braid hair in Color 44. My cousin did my cornrows, and my other sister and I crocheted the hair in. We were skyping with our parents while doing the hair, and they both kept shaking their heads and wondering which alien ship dropped me in their laps. :p My mum kept asking why, and my reason is this - right now, I'm between jobs. If I'm going to do anything crazy, now is the time. Shey I'm making sense?

Anyways, I loved the results!

Driving through Owerri and Calabar

Hiya!

How was your weekend? I hope it went well. I had a fun fun time here, and I'll share photos eventually. Again, my Snapchatters already saw everything that went down :) The username is BerryDakara.

Before I left Nigeria, one of the most important things for me to do was see my grandparents. Cakes also wanted us to visit his sister in Calabar. The easiest thing to do was to fly to Port Harcourt, staying with my parents and then drive down to our various destinations. The week before I left, we set off on our tripping across Southern/Eastern Nigeria and while it was tiring, we had a lot of fun. Scroll through for a few photos.

Berry's Bible Study - Fear and Discipline

I cannot believe the last time I posted in the Berry Bible Study series was all the way back in January. I was supposed to be shooting for at least twice a month. Well, if I'm being honest, there is a reason why I stopped. The end of January into the first week of February was a very very trying period. I'm talking slipping into depression, not reading the Bible at all, barely being able to pray. It was very very very bad. I'm still suffering for it, actually.

But I know that God is calling out to me and waiting with open arms. He wants me to cast all my cares, worries, and fears on Him. And trust me, I have plenty of those at the moment. Instead of hiding and running, I'm just going to go on and do what I know is right.

SISTER TAG!!!

Since I've been back in Atlanta, I've been soaking up yummy family goodness (follow me on Snapchat to see everyone)! My brother, who took my photos from this post, was in town last week and has since gone back to school. My youngest sister is here for the week, and she happily agreed to make a video with me :)

She looked up some tags and chose a Sister Tag set of questions, and we had a lot of fun making it. There was silliness and laughter, and I think you'll enjoy it.

Who can guess the age difference between her and me?

Don't forget to subscribe to my Youtube channel and like my videos!

P.S. What topics would you like me to talk about in future videos?

South-South Girl

When I moved back to Nigeria in 2011, I was very pumped and excited about what was coming ahead. I looked forward to the fashion and having ankara and other traditional clothes in abundance. One of the items I really wanted was the Etibo, which is traditionally worn by South-South men. I mentioned it to my dad and he 100% refused to even entertain the idea. I'm sure in his mind, he thought, "This my daughter don come with her crase."

How to Be Single

Hi everyone,

Cakes and I went on an impromptu date a few weeks ago, and the 2 movie options were Deadpool and How to Be Single. I feel like most times we go to the movies, we end up watching an action film, so I really wanted to watch a chick flick. When I was single (pun intended), I mostly watched Chick Flicks, Rom-Coms, and ALWAYS Superhero movies. In this instance though, I wanted to go for something light and funny, so How to Be Single was the choice. It wasn't a bad movie - there was laughter in some scenes. However, I didn't know it was rated R - there was A LOT of random hooking up (sex o) and F-bombs everywhere. That aside. it made me think about my life before I met Cakes.

BERRY CHOPS: Sardine French Toast

Yo!

This post is looooooooooooooooong overdue. It's just been sitting somewhere, waiting to get posted. I think that my favorite kinda food to make is breakfast food, because it doesn't take as long as making lunch or dinner... I think. Funny enough, I don't mind spending 30 minutes making breakfast. But making lunch/dinner needs to be made in a shorter amount of time if I'm the one in the kitchen. Weird, right?

Anyways, today I'm sharing my very simple recipe for Sardine French Toast.
