I've got a Style post today, and I know the title says "Boyfriend Shirt" but technically it's Hubby's shirt. And it's not the typical Boyfriend's shirt you're used to seeing in fashion magazines. I brought it home - Naija style.
I can't remember what made me decide to try on one of Cakes' shirts one day. He wasn't at home, and maybe I felt like shopping or wearing something new, and I found myself in his section of the closet. This was the first thing that grabbed my attention, and when I put it on, it kinda made sense! All I needed to do now was try to convince him to let me wear it. I didn't really have a plan, but I waited for a random Sunday to ask him. To my surprise he said he didn't even want it anymore and I could have it for keeps! Yay me!
First up, I styled the top with my Old Navy boyfriend skinny jeans (looks like I'm all about the boyfriend, aye?), and a denim jacket. I was going for a casual look and paired it with flat white slippers.
For the second look, I opted to go for a little more playful look. I got rid of the jeans and slippers, and put on my light blue loafers which are super comfortable. I also swapped my prescription glasses for my sunglasses.
When I said 'playful' I meant it :D
I miss my straight hair sha - look at it flying with the wind.
For the final look, I went more daring and dressy. This time, I paired the top with grey heels and my Maknisy clutch.
I don't know if I could actually wear it out like that cos it's pretty short. In my younger days, mehn, the shorter the better! :p
So those are my 3 looks! Which one is your favorite? If you're a guy, do you like to see your significant other play dress up in your clothes?
Ya head dey there. Luv the Ankara version of BF shirt.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, tenks!
DeleteI love all three, but I would go for number 2. When pregnant, I wear hubby's teeshirts, shirts, jeans, natives and Jacket. Mine is so bad, I even wear his boxers and singlet when preggy. Yup his singlet becomes my inner top/ camisole. When I get to work, that's when I inform him by sending him a picture. You know me berry I am akaglue, why should I overspend on maternity wears when I will be dumping them in another 4-5mths.
ReplyDeleteOh my, that's a fantastic idea!
DeleteMinus the singlet and boxers o.
DeleteThe third look is my favourite

Thanks. I think the heels kick it up a notch
DeleteI love the 2nd and 3rd look!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tomi :D
Delete2nd & 3rd looks are cute...and this blog post would come after I left Naija where I know my family tailor could sew this for crazy cheap! Tailors in the US can make you go for broke!
ReplyDeleteAre you sure I shouldn't move back and become a seamstress?!
DeleteThe third look is my favourite. I love the video too. lovely!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Jayne
DeleteThe 3rd look is the bomb or you could ditch the jacket in the 2nd look and still look hott. Also you could wear a pair of short shorts underneath it if it'll make you feel more 'unnaked'(lol)
ReplyDeleteHahaha @ unnaked. Thanks Starr
DeleteThird look is it for me.

Thank you ma'am
DeleteI like the second look and the third too. It would be too short for me to feel comfortable in it outside too- lol. But I think you could rock the third look with some leggings/tights and have the comfort while not compromising the style!
ReplyDeleteI lost all my leggings :( I don't know how :p
DeleteI love all looks but the 1st and 2nd looks best!
ReplyDeleteThird look for me! The older I get the ore daring I become! Love the short video clips!
ReplyDeleteThanks Joy. Lol @ being more daring. Maybe because as we get older we just do what we want.
DeleteI dig the second and third look! I like the shirt worn as a dress :)
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot. The third might be my fave
DeleteYou look nice in all three. I like the third look.best.
ReplyDeleteG
Thanks G! :D
Deletethe third is my favourite, i stole a lace version from my brother sometime in 2014, its the perfect dressy casual look.x
ReplyDeletewww.deemako.com
I saw it! Yours was way shorter though!
DeleteLove the third look! Especially because of the heels, so gorg. You could also close up the slits, they shouldn't look so short after that :)
ReplyDeleteThe thing with hips/butt is if I close the slits, I may not be able to walk :p
DeleteYou can close the slit and add a zipper to make is weareable outside....OR wear a knee-length pencil skirt and heels.....I love the last outfit...
ReplyDeleteIf none of the two ideas makes sense, then try adding a nice lace fabric below to make it longer and chic..You can sew it yourself :D
The Beautiful Eagle
Those are nice ideas too. Who knows what I'll end up doing...
DeleteYaaay! Style post! I do this with my dad's shirts, cardigans and sweaters. Love the three styles, but the dressy one is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteP.S: how did you make that gif? Love it!

Thanks Ijenna. I can't remember which particular one I used, but I searched "Free Gif Creator" or something long those lines.
DeleteI like the idea of shopping for new looks in your own closet, (or in this case hubby's closet, Lol)
ReplyDeleteAll three are comfortably chic, but my favourite look is the one with the heels, you look so girly and pretty.
Thank you Nedoux. Shopping your closet, or friends' or parents' or significant others' can turn up some gems.
DeleteYou are cute. love the ankara shirt dress on you. first time on your blog
