A Day In The Life... Welcome to BERRYLAND!

Hellur darl'ns!

The other night, I was just sitting in bed, couldn't sleep. Cakes wasn't around for me to play with, so I decided to indulge in one of my supposed relaxing night-time routines - drinking a cup of tea, specifically Chamomile - it used to be Chamomile and Peppermint, but someone whose name I shan't mention (rhymes with Bakes, and coincidentally is his profession) discovered the tea and finished it before I could blink. Anyways, I thought to share my night-time routine with you guys, but thought better of it. Let's take a peek into what a typical weekday is like for moi, shall we?

Are you following me on Instagram? @Berrydakara

5:15AM - Silently curse my alarm for coming on.

5:25AM to 5:30AM - Agree to wake up, hurriedly put on my gym clothes, decide what I'm wearing for the day and hope it's already ironed, and dash out.

6:15AM to 7:15AM - Workout. I typically use the Skimble app for my exercises

7:15AM to 7:30AM - Wonder why I keep forgetting my towel at home. Shower and get ready for work.

7:30AM to 4:15PM - Earn my income.
In between that I do several things like make sure my scheduled blog post has gone up, check for comments if any, go through my social media pages, connect with my family and friends on Whatsapp, eat breakfast-snack-lunch-snack.

4:15PM to 5:00PM (if I'm lucky) or 6:00PM (if I'm not) - Listen to Toolz and Gbemi on radio for a few minutes, play Candy Crush, and if I'm hungry, silently pray there's a little traffic so I can buy plantain chips.

5:00PM/6:00PM to 5:30PM/6:30PM  - Get home and either prepare dinner (more often than not though, Cakes is already home and has made something delicious and usually fattening)

5:30PM/6:30PM to 10:00PM - Watch TV, read up on blogs, schedule MY blog posts, tidy up the apartment and start laundry if need be, and prepare for work the following day. Let me be honest... that last one is more in theory than actual practice.

10:00PM to 12:00AM - Fight the fatigue that's obviously taking over until I literally can't stay up any longer.

Looking through this makes me feel like I'm spending WAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much time on TV and/or reading blogs. I could be using a good chunk of that time to pray, or read, or even just stretch.

What's your daily routine like?

  2. My daily routine - wake up at about 5am and wish I didnt have to stand up...... Lie in bed (browsing and doing other stuff) until the dying minute usually about 8am and then do a 'fire brigade rush to the bathroom'; 8.30am - get to work and stay there till late; PM travel back home; wonder why there are not enough hours in a day and try to catch up on every other daily activities......

I cheated didnt I? Mine is not so detailed..... That cos I have a deadline to meet..... BRB........

  4. 5:05AM- Alarm goes off, I keep snoozing & snoozing & snoozing it, eventually I prop myself up, have sleepy morning devotion & snooze off again.
6:00AM- 6:30AM- I eventually get up, attempt to exercise
6:35AM- 7:30AM- take my bath, look for what to wear
7:35AM- make a mad dash to my car & zoom off. While driving I wear my earrings, start my make-up process, which I finish up at the office(caution driver applying make-up!)
8:00AM- 5:00PM- in between being a good employee (adjusts halo), I check out Berry’s blog & others while nibbling on those 3 for 15naira crackers with a cup of green tea, have lunch by 1:30 & continue the process.
5:00PM- 6:30PM/7PM- stay back after my colleagues have left to either think/ponder/plan/pray/read my Bible/social media browsing/yap away on the phone etc. the list is endless.
However if it’s a Monday I’m usually dashing off to silverbird to meet up with friends for a movie or on any other day I’m off to the salon to do my hair, then get home like 9PM. I hate going to the salon at the weekend cos everybody and their mamas are there! & If it’s the last Tuesday of the month I’m off to Taruwa.
7:30PM-10PM- I have dinner & watch TV; Tinsel, Hotel Majestic, Taste of Love, Emerald etc. (yes in that order)
11PM-12PM- groom my hair, moisturize, seal etc because I can’t be bothered to deal with the hair in the morning, recently embarked on my hair journey! Operation front hair must grow! Say no to receding hairline! Jamaican castor oil & i just became buddies!
    That's my very detailed weekday!

    1. BISARO!! U MEAN U ARE ONE THOSE THOSE 'I ONLY DO MY MAKE UP AT THE WHEEL' BABES?!?!?!? I am laughing at you but in my heart I know it is not a lughing matter. There was a documentary on ladies like you sometime ago on TV. The danger!! LOL!!

My hair journey starts this weekend - I am going to attempt bantu knots/twist out (my very first attempt at anything other than protective styling) and see how they turn out. Wish me luck!!!

    3. LOVES IT @ Bisaro. I should check out Taruwa one of these days. I just don't like being out in the middle of the week.

Mehn, I feel you on the moisturizing and sealing struggle. By the end of the week, I just give up and allow the hair to remain shrunken.

    1. I go to a gym. If I had my workouts at home, I'd more likely sleep in.

    1. Unfortunately, I have not dedicated any time - which is terrible, and I should cut my TV/Blog time to add it. Otherwise, I just pray throughout the day.

  9. I have to pause for a minute and scream, "7:15-7:30 to shower and get ready for work?" Adonbilivthis. 15 freaking minutes? Color me amazed and bowing to an altar I have erected in honour of your showering and getting ready prowess. For me, fifteen minutes is just barely enough to arrange my brush, towel, and sponge in a neat file. Chei!

Singing on my way out, "Baibe Berry, I hail you. You too try. From showering to getting ready, you don amaze me." ;)
