What I did this Weekend

Hey there pretty people!

How are ya? How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun? What'd you do? Who'd you see? Eat anything yummy?

Well, I had a pretty uneventful weekend, which was fine by me because this coming weekend is going to be PACKED!!! I mean, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so watch this space next week :D

On FRIDAY, Cakes had said that we should go out clubbing, because we haven't done anything like that since the wedding. In fact, before we got married, we probably went 3 times (on account of friends' birthday parties). So that was the plan... until 8pm, when he decided that we should go somewhere to watch the football match. Now, I used to party A LOT in my early 20s. I know my body now, and going anywhere at 8pm was a bad idea to me, if we planned on going to a club or lounge afterwards. The proper plan should have been to take a nap and wake up at about 11pm, THEN head out. But Cakes' body was just itching to leave the house, and so we went somewhere in Lekki and caught the tail end of the match that ended in 6-2 (I'm not a soccer head so I can't remember who played). Sure enough, by 10:30, I was yawning and Cakes was tired, and we went home to sleep.

SATURDAY was almost a nightmare!!! Our inverter battery has packed up, and the electric company has decided that NOW is the best time to withhold electricity all weekend long. Without our inverter to power our apartment, that meant no TV, no AC or fan, no power to charge my rapidly dying phone, and no internet (because our modem requires electricity). To make matters worse, Cakes was off to the bakery for the better part of the day, which left me home alone and very irritated. On the plus side, I found new playing options for Fruit Slash on my iPad mini. I couldn't play Candy Crush because it drains my phone battery. On the plus side, I made a yummy salad with apples and fish fingers in it.

Part of the reason why I stayed home was because Meme (owner of Dreamy Beddings) gifted Cakes and I with a set of pillow cases and bed sheet. She personally came to deliver the items on Saturday afternoon, and I must tell you, the bedsheet is sooooo soft and feels nice against my skin. Even Cakes likes it - and no, he didn't complain about the color. We're going to order a duvet cover from her soon.

Later on, after Cakes got home, we went to watch Maleficent. I enjoyed the movie, BUT I'm not sure about Disney changing the Sleeping Beauty story line. Oh well. After that, we got suya from Ikoyi and headed home for the night. Trust me to sleep off during the Nigeria - Bosnia World Cup match. OH, and I had a total fan girl moment with makeup artist and beauty buff, Lola Maja. Like I saw her, screamed her name, literally jumped out of the car and ran to meet her and hug her. I know some of you will roll your eyes, but I was living in the moment and expressing myself.

OMG I was sitting in the car, waiting for the suya to be ready, but first #LetMeTakeASelfie

Yesterday was largely a chill day as well. Church was good - yay, Cakes came with me. I realized that I do miss us being in church together. The message was great - our creative arts ministry (dance, drama, music, creative writing, etc) put on a small play about using God's gifts and talents. You may not use your gift exclusively, but you should use it when, where, how you can. Mrs Joke Silva-Jacobs was the guest speaker.

This is the dress I wore for our engagement shoot.

Mehn, fashi Samsung 'Beauty Face' camera option!!!
After church, we went to deliver this baby shower cake. After putting the picture up on Instagram, Cakes has gotten almost 200 extra followers and 300 likes!!! Well done, babe!!! And thanks to the customer who ordered it. I like customers who push the boundaries creatively for Cakes.

Cakes took me home, and went for a family meeting. I was ready for the no-power situation, so I ate, read a book on my iPad and took a loooooooooooooooooooong nap. When Cakes got home we went grocery shopping, and that was how my weekend went.

For someone who did nothing at all, this was a long write up, wasn't it?

Have a berry pretty week.

  14. Loving your outfit berry. And the hair.. ermm, how did you make the wig? I'm done with hairstylists and all my wigs are inappropriate for work "hospital has issues with big hair" and I'm wary about getting my hair in body fluids anyway. Sorry about the gross moment.
