Calling all Beauty Enthusiasts

Noooope, there isn't an event for beauty and makeup enthusiasts that I want to promote. On the contrary, I am in the market for beauty products. Right now, I order all my makeup from Atlanta, and whenever the 'rents are on their way back, they drop off my items for me.

However, I'm beginning to think that it might be somewhat easier to simply source my products locally. I don't mean I want to pay for international products with a 300% markup. I'm interested in trying Nigerian brands. I've seen a lot of good reviews of Sleek products, House of Tara and a few others. But I'd really like to hone in on one or two brands and use them exclusively, for the most part.

Sooooooooooo, this is where the makeup artists and beauty lovers come in! Help me choose where I can get a good start from. Please note that I ALWAYS prefer a natural look, and I'm not interested in spending a fortune on makeup. For me, the necessities are...

  • Light foundation
  • Powder
  • Eye liner
  • Lipstick or lipstain
  • I might be inclined to try a bronzer or concealer (for special occasions only)
Ooooh, what would be optimal is a brand that has a studio where they can teach the regular woman (not unlike moi) how to use makeup - a day face, and night face.

Kindly leave suggestions in the comments please!

*air kisses* #Ebola is still real.

  1. Zaron face powder, House of Tara's foundation, Maybelline collosal kajal (for eyeliner) or Zaron's black velvet eye-pencil....

    1. Lol, that's why I asked for one brand. I don't want to have to go to 5 million places to buy stuff.

    1. Lol, I usually go to thread my eyebrows or I tweeze.

Ebeano has ELF's eye brow stencils - overpriced sha, cos it's supposed to be $1.

  3. Hi boo, try sleek or zaron brands. They have been good for me and haven't caused me to break out. If you don't mind a little mix, try BlackUp foundation and powder. They 'photograph' quite well. They are really light but offer good coverage.
For makeup school, I don't really know but I heard Tara is good.

    1. Actually, Sleek is one I definitely want to try out, but mostly because of their Duke lipstain. I really want purple lips :p

I don't want to go to makeup school per se, but I think these makeup houses should offer a one-day class to young professionals who just want to put on a basic but "flawless" face.

  5. Oh is it possible to get just one brand?
MAC is pricey, but I love their lippies and the only other major makeup thing I own- the Skin finish powder (which I also love) is from them.
You could go to their studio at the Palms, and have them test you and show you a few tricks.

You can go to MAC or Black-Up for most of your makeup, and then Casabella for the rest of your purchases. Same building, saves you the stress :)

    1. Lol, I dunno if it's possible to get one brand. Maybe it's wishful thinking on my part, but I like to keep things simple.

I've used a MAC cream foundation before and liked it, but I don't want/like to spend too much money on makeup.

I'll swing by anyways for a test run.

      Thanks!
