My Husband...

I know for sure that someone out there is rolling his/her eyes right now, asking themselves, "Geez, doesn't Berry have anything else to write about? Since she got married, it's been Cakes this, marriage that, wedding who, blah blah blah." Well, I have good news and bad news for you.

THE GOOD NEWS
This post has nothing to do with Cakes

THE BAD NEWS
It has everything to do with marriage, especially newlyweds. In the past, when my friends got married, I usually noticed a trend. Let's see the following conversation for illustration, shall we?

Berry: Hey friend, how are ya?
Friend: Berry berry, the only Berry in the garden! The only Berry in town! Berryskilicious!
Berry: Okay, you're a random weirdo obviously. How's Michael?
Friend: Oh, my husband's fine. How's life?
Berry: You know, same ol, same ol.
Friend: Oh yes, that's true. My husband said I should ask you if you watched Real Husbands of Hollywood last week.
Berry: I diiiiiiiiiid! OMG crazy!
Friend: I know. My husband said it was so crazy. Kevin Hart poured sugar on Robin Thicke's piano.
Berry: Those men are soooooo hilarious and silly.
Friend: That's why I thank God for my husband.
Berry: Erm, you know I know your husband's name, right? Michael... remember? I knew him before you got married, and he definitely had a name.

See that right there? Why on this green and blue earth, do people forget that their new spouses had names before the wedding?!?!?! It's like, okay, I know you're married, but maybe you should shut up now.

  4. I am still getting used to saying my husband, I often say my boyfriend and get corrected. Maybe the wedding happened so quickly that I forget I am married or the whole married woman=boring scares me?!?!

    1. Haha, it happens to me sometimes. And I have to admit, at other times, I catch myself saying "my husband" and I mentally scold myself to NOT be that person.

Lol @ married woman = boring. It doesn't have to be like that.

  8. Hmm this matter is serious. My story is slightly different from this. There's this couple i used to be really close to before they got married.

Then they got married and one day we were all hanging out and i remember gisting and calling him by his first name as usual (Lets call him Kunle) and he didn't respond. Anyways, fast forward 2 weeks later, i went to drop off a parcel someone sent to them through me and i noticed the husband was giving me an attitude.

I felt so uncomfortable, i had to call my friend the wife and asked if i offended her dear husband that i noticed he hasn't been his usual self around me. Anyways, long story cut short, my friend says her husband doesn't like the fact that her friends call him by his first name. Says i should start calling him Mr.......

Huh!!!!!!! I was beyond shocked and surprised. Anyways, for peace to reign, i started calling him 'Uncle Kunle'

Did i mention he is 37 years. Not that its important but just incase you thought he was like 45.

So berry babes, there you go :-)

  9. "used to be really close to" - operative words here. I'm sorry but what side of the bed did he magically wake up on?! That's not a good kind of random!

  10. I realise I'm guilty of this. In my defence though, I don't do it to show off. I used to call my husband(did it again!), by his name before we got married but after marriage, I have an endearment for him so I'm no longer used to calling his name. I hope my explanation makes sense sha. We've been married for a year, our anniversary is next week so I don't have any reason to show off.

  11. I had problems saying 'my husband'. it is still taking a while to get used to, 3 years and counting. we still introduce ourselves as boyfriend and girlfriend and I find that more interesting. its not just that serious to both of us. some people just don't know where to step on the brakes sha. its really not that serious.
