First Impression: Afro Riri Haircare

Hiya!!!

I mentioned that I had a couple of reviews to post, and to stay tuned, and today I'd like to introduce you to Afroriri Haircare products. Afroriri Haircare is a Nigerian company with locally made products - they are located in Calabar and deliver all over Nigeria and even to the Ukraine.

I noticed them on Instagram a couple of months ago, and when they contacted me via email about sending a few of their products, I happily agreed. I was sent their Honey Moisturizing Shampoo, Luxe Detangling Conditioner and Luxe Hair Butter.

The delivery was super quick and easy - got the products literally within a couple of days! I'll do a full product review when I've used them sufficiently, but for now, here are my first thoughts:

  • The packaging isn't bad. I was a little taken aback at the nylon used to secure the conditioner though. Barbara (of Barbara 1923) thought it made it seem more local/authentic - I felt it was a little on the amateur side.
  • The products are free of sulfates, silicones, parabens and mineral oil, which means they're safe to use on all hair types.
  • I wasn't a big fan of the scents. They're a little too strong for me. The conditioner smells like bubble gum - those old ones we used to buy as kids in tuck shop. The shampoo smell reminds me of locally produced soap. And I can't quite place the smell of the butter. I just know that it smells familiar but not too sure what it is.
  • The shampoo and conditioner are okay (I've recently had issues with my hair feeling dry WHILE washing, but this has been happening for a few months, so definitely not attributed to Afroriri Haircare products). The butter is what I really like. My hair felt moisturized for DAAAYS after my first use! Be careful not to use too much, otherwise your hair will feel greasy instead of moisturized. Suffice it to say, a little goes a long way.
I've been using the products for a few weeks now and so far, so good. Like I said, I will be doing a proper review in a little while, so keep your eyes peeled.

Have a loverly weekend errybawdy!!!

  3. It's nice to see Nigerian made products...they're just starting out so I'm sure the packaging will improve with time. As for the boobage, you can wear a t-shirt although it's probably going to get wet. :)

    1. Yeah, I was actually emailed and it was the person who transported the products that used the nylon for extra protection.

I do like that a lot of products are being made locally.
