This post is looooooooooooooooong overdue. It's just been sitting somewhere, waiting to get posted. I think that my favorite kinda food to make is breakfast food, because it doesn't take as long as making lunch or dinner... I think. Funny enough, I don't mind spending 30 minutes making breakfast. But making lunch/dinner needs to be made in a shorter amount of time if I'm the one in the kitchen. Weird, right?
Anyways, today I'm sharing my very simple recipe for Sardine French Toast.
FUN FACT: My youngest sister used to call it "Bread and Fish Inside" when she was little. LOL. Even up till now, we still ask if anyone wants Bread and Fish Inside when we're making this dish.
Like I said, it's very easy. All you need are your eggs, a tin/can of sardines, and a little salt. Mix them up together and place in your dish, with your sliced bread close by.
Some people choose to add cinnamon in their French Toast. Either way is fine for me.
Put your frying pan on medium low heat, and add a small drizzle of oil. Or if you're health conscious, you can use a cooking spray like I did with my Honey Pepper Chicken Sandwich. Dip a slice of bread into the egg mix, turn it over and dip the other side as well.
Some people like their french toast really soggy and leave their bread to soak up a lot of egg - I'm not one of those people.
Place the bread slice in the pan and when it's golden brown on one side, flip it over for the same thing on the other side.
Voila! It's done. Easy peasy!
You can eat them plain, or if you're like me, with a drizzle of honey over it.
I like plain French Toast too, but the added crunch of sardines makes this more delicious to me.
Most of the time, I have breakfast with a cup of coffee or my favorite, Earl Grey tea.
P.S. This post just made me hungry :(
I want bread and sardines now. I am not even a bread person. :(
