On Losing Pregnancy Weight aka Snapback

Hey y'all,

I announced in January that my sister, cousin and I were starting a new live web-based talk show called Tea With Cubes. We have completed 5 episodes so far!!!! You can catch us on the FIRST and THIRD Sundays of each month at 4pm EST (9pm Nigerian time) on Instagram and Facebook. If you missed any of the episodes, please subscribe to our Youtube channel and catch up with our Hot Topics segments and our various discussions.

This coming Sunday (March 18th), we're talking about the SNAPBACK! You know... there is this seemingly new pressure for women who have just given birth to VERY QUICKLY lose their baby weight and get their pre-pregnancy bodies back. A lot of celebrities seem to go to great lengths to make sure they're back to their old selves within a few months, if not weeks of giving birth to their children.

I won't even lie, a few weeks after I had Baby Cocoa, it seemed like I had lost a lot of weight - I guess due to breastfeeding at the time. A lot of people commented on how good I looked, and I beamed inwardly with so much secret pride. It felt nice to wear clothes I hadn't worn in a long time and get compliments from people, saying I didn't even look like I'd just had a child. I wasn't doing it on purpose. I didn't feel any pressure to lose the weight. It just kinda happened for a little while...  until the weight started coming back. This was before I began my 2018 push to lose weight and go back to my pre-wedding weight, if possible.
The day before I gave birth

5/6 weeks after I gave birth. The weight loss didn't last :p
I think that in today's world, there is a lot of pressure, especially from social media, for women to snap back quickly after giving birth. The whole FitFam ideology doesn't really help matters - it's a good thing to be fit o, don't get me wrong. In the same vein though, I think there's a bit of a push-back from women who just want to be left alone. Some women who had fit, tight bodies before pregnancy, seem to get some flack if their bodes happen to bounce back to pre-baby size. It's almost like nobody can win in this matter.

Anyways, this is what we're talking about on Tea With Cubes this coming Sunday. I'd love it if you could join the conversation live. But if you can't, kindly leave your opinions in the comments and also answer the questions in the poll below.

Have a beautiful week! Please follow Tea With Cubes on Facebook, Instagram and Youtube.
