What I Did This Weekend

Hello ladies and gentlemen!

How was your weekend?! Did you have fun? I hope so, because I most certainly did!!!

I heard about this event, called The Music Lounge, which would feature musicians (soul and R&B type of music), held at Villa Medici and best of all, FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! So, I planned to go on Friday with Cakes, so we could have a fun date night, and afterwards we would go and watch Half of a Yellow Sun. And then I reserved Saturday night for drinks with my girls.

Of course, being typical me, I didn't really read the information right. The Music Lounge event was supposed to be on Saturday NOT Friday, and I wasn't about to cancel with my friends. Soooooooo, I shifted things around a smidge - Friday would be movie night, and Saturday would be both the music event, and I'd leave early for my girly hangout. Fun stuff, aye?

What I'm Listening To - Always

Hey pretty people! I hope you had a pretty weekend :)

I did. Guess who I sawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! No, not Fu-leh-vuh N'Abania. But close enough! D'Banj :D. He performed at a corporate event on Friday night. Tiwa Savage performed too, but Cakes and I were late due to the maddening (or as Cakes calls it, demonic) traffic, so we caught D'Banj only. I have a short clip of his performance on Instagram. All I can say is, "His Waist!!!"

Anyways, the title of my post is incorrect. The real title is What I'm Obsessed With - Always.

Over the weekend, Cakes and I saw The Bestman Holiday. Personally, I prefer the first film and I don't see what was so awesomely great about this one. Maybe my expectations were too high? Anyways, I was pleasantly surprised to hear one of my favorite songs in the film, during a significant scene. Stevie Wonder's original version was used in The Bestman, and for this new film, the song was remade by Anthony Hamilton and Marsha Ambrosius. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this new version. So much so that I slept at 2:30am last night, replaying the song and I've listened to it 20 times this morning (it's only 10am, so do the math).

Without further ado, let's all listen to Always (or As, depending on which Youtube video you're watching).

  1. STEVIE WONDER - AS

Mr. Stevie Wonder, you are a master genius for writing this song!
  2. ANTHONY HAMILTON & MARSHA AMBROSIUS - ALWAYS

By the way, I think Marsha is underrated and should be much bigger than she is!!! Her voice is ah-MAH-zing!

Oh, and if your body starts to tingle from this version, I was not there by that time o! Drink cold water or jump into the nearest freezer.

Alrighty, I gotta go find go take an ice bath...

Toodles, pretty poodles, and stir-fried noodles!
Berry :)

Eeeeeeeeeeeek! I have butterflies in my tummy...

No, this has nothing to do with Cakes, and EVERYTHING to do with HENRY CAVILL aka MAN OF STEEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh - Em - Gee!!

This guy is TOO FOINE for words! Like, I was watching the movie with Cakes and I couldn't take my eyes off this beautifully handsome specimen! His eyes are just gorgeous! THAT BODY!!!

*Dear Cakes, if you see this post, don't read it. And if you've read up until now, pretend I'm talking about you.*

JEAN-CLAUDE VAN DAMMMMMMMMMMN, I want to marry Henry Cavill!

Look at that smile!

I'm going to cry because he's too hawt :(

Do you think it's the white shirt? *makes mental note to buy 10 white shirts for Cakes*

I dare you not to swoon over these eyes!

Ouuuuuuch! I totally bumped my head when I fainted just now.

Tyler Perry's Temptation

This movie just opened last week in Nigeria. Because of my part-time job, I get to watch movies for FREEEEEE! I still haven't convinced them to throw in popcorn, drinks, cookies, sadly.

Anyways, so this past Monday, my weekly meeting was canceled and it was very convenient to stop by Genesis Deluxe Cinemas at The Palms Mall, to catch Temptation. Here are my thoughts...

  1. I'm not into Tyler Perry movies. At all. I've probably watched a grand total of 3. I refused to watch any Madea film, and the rest of them. I'm just not into "black" movies. Or should I say "ghetto" films? Or films with "angry black women." They just bore me. Give me a 'Jumping the Broom,' with educated, middle-to-upper class African-American families, and I'd be more interested. Anyways, I watched this one. It was okay, I guess.
  2. Kim Kardashian is the WORST ACTRESS in the history of acting! I absolutely detest bad acting. It physically hurts me. And Kim, I like you (although I hate your dating-Kanye, pregnancy fashion choices), but acting is a bad idea for you. What was Tyler Perry thinking when he cast you?! What was he thinking during production?! What was Mr. Perry thinking during post-production and editing?! *le sigh* It appears that he wasn't thinking.
  3. I can see why the female lead cheated on her husband. I'M NOT SAYING IT IS RIGHT O! The person next to you is my witness. But I can see why. It's been said that when women cheat, it's mostly because there's something missing. For her, her marriage had become boring. There was no oomph! And when she tried to bring the oomph, her husband was more interested in making a sandwich. *insert blank stare* Dear Married People, please don't get boring. Unless you were boring in the first place. In which case I say, carry on."
  4. Now, even though her marriage was boring, all she needed to do was compare her new guy to her husband. I just have to say this... JEAN-CLAUDE VAN DAMN, LANCE GROSS IS FOINE!!!

  5. *swooooooooooooooooooon* I mean, look at his face! Look at that smile!!!! It's so fuzzy-feeling-producing! HAWTY McHAWTINGTON! Erm, I can't remember the rest of my points.
Have a pretty weekend everybawdy!

IT'S MY BIRTHDAY ON WEDNESDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
