New Year Goal - Losing Weight

It is 8 days into the year and most of us are still on the high of a new year, fresh start, renewed energy, and hopeful beginnings. In the past I have shared some of my personal and blogging goals here. However, in my 2017 fog, I lost myself and also what my goals had been. As I have been picking up the pieces and being restored by God, some of my life goals are coming back to me. I am still working on what I want to see happen in my life this year and the years ahead, and I'm glad I'm making some progress.

If you watched the live show of Tea With Cubes yesterday (or the replay which is available here) then you know that the number 1 New Year resolution is to lose weight. I have shared my weight issues here before (newlywed weight gain, losing some of that weight, and my gym chronicles), and it's that time again. This time though, my weight gain was for good reason - my lovely Baby Cocoa. But it's time to lose the baby weight! That is one of my goals for 2018.

On the show yesterday we also mentioned that goals need to be S.M.A.R.T. (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely). So therefore, here is my weight loss goal statement - I want to lose 25lbs by my birthday, May 29th.

How do I plan to do it?
Aim to lose 5lbs per month by

  1. Exercising for at least 30 minutes per day.
  2. Cutting out soda completely.
  3. Drinking at least 75 oz of water daily.
  4. Actually incorporating some of the LIN (Lose It Nigerian) plans/recipes I paid for 2 years ago.
I asked whether I should give weekly updates on my progress via Instagram stories. The majority voted yes, but I may just make them monthly updates.

I took a BEFORE photo last week but I'm afraid to post it 🙈. I don't mind telling you how much I weighed on New Year's Day - 194.8lbs. If I achieve my goal, I should be down to 170 by my birthday. So let's see how this goes aye?

  2. Berry, I'm with you on the weight gain. I also had a baby in December and I'm waiting to fully recover before getting back to exercise. But my major goal is to start blogging again. I was an active blogger for years, fell off the blogosphere - work, lack of motivation. Any tips on how I can get back on track?

    Happy new year. Losing weight is one of my goals this year too. Hoping to lose 15kg before June this year and to stay accountable, I created a fitness page. Would also be putting up monthly updates on my blog. Cheers

  6. Cutting out soda completely goes a long way!
    I completely cut out soda two years ago and the results have been amazing.
    Now no matter what I eat, its hard to add as much weight as I would have when I used to drink a bottle of coke everyday

  7. Im trying to drop to 80kg by july 1st. I'm currently 96kg.... thats about 35lbs i wanna shed. God help me. I also have the LIN cookbook. Perhaps I should follow it strictly?
