Cakes got to Atlanta just 4 days before the baby shower, and my "resident" personal designer, Jeff Urban, had made me a few sets of clothes (I've worn his outfits here, here, and here). When I saw this dress, I was both happy and dismayed. I was happy because it was black and white (just like my wedding was), but the measurements were quite off and the dress looked like a tent! It was the morning of the baby shower that I decided to still go ahead with it, and add a belt to cinch above my pregnant belly.

Maternity Style - Baby Shower Dress
A baby shower is one of the highlights of being pregnant. Everyone comes together to celebrate your upcoming bundle of joy, and gives you lots of presents and advice on parenthood. Baby showers can be done in a bunch of different ways - just women, or coed along with the men. Some have baby shower themes - all you need to do is check out Bella Naija for some really creative and pretty baby showers they have featured. A big part of this event is figuring out what to wear to your baby shower.
I wasn't sure what I was going to wear until a few days before the event. I had previously thought I'd wear my simple black dress from the maternity photo shoot (pictures coming maybe next week, or the week after). My baby shower theme was "Tea Party." I remembered having an actual tea party during my sister's wedding festivities in 2011, and going to Afternoon Tea in England last year, and I knew that I wanted a tea party baby shower theme. All I would need to look the part in my mind was either a simple fitted or flowy dress, and my sister's big hat.

Beautiful with or without the hat. Rightly said, a beautiful pregnant woman!
ReplyDeleteFor me "both" looked good... How is my coco doing?
ReplyDeletePretty even in pregnancy. Congrats darling
ReplyDeleteWith the hat most definitely! The hat just took the outfit to a whole 'nother level. The last picture is the best. I love your lipstick.
