BERRY VLOG - On Soulmates

Not too long ago, my sister tagged me in a post and it had to do with soulmates. Over the years, I've changed my thought process on whether soulmates are real or not. But while doing quick "research" during the filming of this vlog, I got totally stumped!

Some people believe soulmates are who you're destined to marry and be with forever. Others think they're people who are ultra close to your heart.

What do you think? If you believe in soulmates, do you think you can have more than one? What happens if your spouse dies and you remarry someone just as wonderful - does that mean you had 2 soulmates? Must soulmates even be romantic?

Gawsh, so many questions!!!!!!!

  1. I believe soulmates are people who are close to your heart. They "agree" with your spirit so to say. It's a deep and familiar connection that touches your spirit. Your souls are mated. Time, effort and experience help deepen this connection. The more you are yourself around the person, the better the chances of cultivating that genuine connection. It is possible to find more than one person who connects with you on that level.
That is why i believe a soulmate is not limited to that "one person" fated and chained to you for destiny and eternity. There are a number of people in the world whom you can connect with at that deep level, and the person you choose to make your partner is one of them. If you had not chosen your partner, there would be someone else out there whom you could form this deep connection with.
That is why you can marry someone, be deeply in love, s/he dies, and after you have healed, be able to make another connection. Of course this new person will have different nuances, but the deep connection in which both your spirits agree would be there.

  2. Soulmates are also not restricted to the romantic sense. It can a deep friendship. In the bible, David and Jonathan had such a close friendship that is was said "the soul of David was knit to Jonathan and he loved him as his own soul" 1 Samuel 18:1. It's wonderful when you have that great friendship with someone where you are so transparent and in agreement. And you can have this kind of a close friendship with one or a few people you know.
So in the end i'm saying that soulmates are both romantic and unromantic connections.
Romantic in the sense of your relationship with your partner, and unromantic in the sense of a deep friendship. I guess we are too wired to linking a soulmate to the romantic sense.

  3. Well, I think it depends on you. Different understandings of soulmates that are true to everyone based on their experience, or not. If you ended up with the person you thought was your soulmate, you'd probably think that you know, through distance and time, you ended up together so it HAD to be him, so if it worked out, you'd probably be saying yes, you were soulmates.

I believe in soulmates, but I don't believe soulmates have to be romantic. Even where romantic, I don't think everyone gets to end up with their soulmate. Does everyone have a soulmate, though? No, I won't go as far as saying that. People die everyday, and are forever lost to the people that are supposed to find them, if we believe there's someone for everyone.

Anyway. I believe in soulmates & I believe I've found mine, in the person of my best friend. She understands me better than anyone, and it's a rare connection that I don't think is because of anything we say or do. It's just what it is. Sometimes, when I think about it, I think it even puts less pressure on my significant other lol he doesn't have to telepathically read my mind, or complete my sentences, or get me all the time, and that's okay.

  4. I think a soul mate is one who understands you so well ,someone whom you share a deeper connection with which is usually a higher mutual connection than the physical one (maybe a spiritual connection)and yes, he or she could be a spouse, a friend , a sibling or even a neighbour. There's something often inexplicable that makes you mindful of the other . Interesting read and hope you have a lovely weekend.
