Clever Girl Finance Book Event in Atlanta

I have been part of the Clever Girl Finance program for a few years now. Clever Girl Finance is a platform that aims to teach women how to be financially savvy and build personal wealth. Earlier this year, I was asked to be one of the Clever Girl Finance mentors - to be honest, I was quite surprised because, to be honest, I don't have a lot of money. At all. My savings account goes up and down and up and down, and sometimes, it seems like I'm living paycheck to paycheck. But the truth of the matter is, I have gained a lot of knowledge from Clever Girl Finance and have made strides in my finances over the years. Sometimes I slip up and make silly mistakes, but I always bounce back based on what I have learned and put into practice. This whole time, through my Clever Girl Finance journey, I had never met the founder, Bola Sokunbi until August 2019!!!

Unfortunately, I got to the Clever Girl Finance Atlanta Book event late, and missed the entire part where Bola talked about her book. My cousin, Rexie and I did catch the second half of the event with panel discussions given by the following women:

Some of my takeaways from what the ladies shared:
  1. Mothers think that it takes a lot of money to build wealth. It does NOT. It takes learning and knowledge.
  2. Know what your goal is early, so you can get there earlier.
  3. You can overcome any [money] mistakes and challenges, and start over again.
  4. More men should be part of the conversation regarding women taking charge and improving their finances.
  5. Understand yourself, your triggers, how you learn.
  6. Women are better money managers and better investors, once they learn what to do and how to do it.
  7. Women need to be more open and transparent. Women need to have more money conversations.
  8. Financial wins come from you being ready and able when things are not going well.
  9. Start where you are, doing what you can, with what you have.
  10. Be consistent at whatever it is you're doing.
  11. It's rare to go 100% hard on every aspect of your life at the same time. At any given time, one part of your life is being sacrificed while you build on other parts. Do not neglect any one part for too long.
  12. Women supporting women is POWERFUL!
I hope you like the photos I took of the event. If you're interested in buying the Clever Girl Finance: Ditch Debt, Save Money and Build Real Wealth book, you can get it here. Also, I have a giveaway of the book coming up soon so watch this space!

Have a wonderful week ahead!
