Travel to Pensacola, Florida

Hiiiiiiiiii,

I didn't mean to be gone so long *hides face* but we've been traveling like I mentioned, so it's been hard to sit down and blog. This is why you should plan ahead and IMPLEMENT!

About 10 days ago, my family and I went on a road trip from Atlanta to Mobile, Alabama for my sister's graduation. It was a 5.5 hour drive and we had a lot of fun on the road. My niece and nephew kept us laughing the whole time with their cuteness overload. We got to Mobile in good time, went out for Cinco de Mayo (a Mexican holiday), and went to bed feeling exhausted.

The following morning, we were up bright and early because we had planned to visit Pensacola, Florida. Pensacola is a short drive away - a little over an hour. It's a waterfront city with protected beaches, so it's a huge tourist attraction. There are so many water activities - parasailing (one of my goals in life), boating, snorkeling, jet-skiing (remember when I went in Lagos) and more. I really believe that if the proper infrastructure was in place, we could have the same things in different cities across Nigeria - especially the southern states with lots of water bodies.

Anyways, we had a marvelous time and I hope you enjoy the photos!

The water was hella cold o! You had to stay in for about a minute or two, to feel warmer. Only my sister, Cakes and my nephew agreed to enter.

The weather was hot though! Hence my short dress. YES, IT'S A DRESS!!! It doesn't matter if my parents kept asking if it was a top and making sure I wore shorts. *sticks tongue out because I'm a big baby sometimes*

My brother and I went over to the pier and he's into photography as well (remember this post). We couldn't resist taking shots under the pier, but I don't think I really captured it well.

By the time we walked back to meet the rest of the family, my nephew had buried my sister's friend in the sand. We miss you Andrew!!!

Check out my sister's fro. We're all natural in our house... but everyone's hair seems longer than mine :( Annoying much! Especially as I went natural YEARS and YEARS before they did.

After our fun time at the beach, we went to McGuire's Irish Pub, also in Pensacola. As soon as you walk in, the first thing you notice are the dollar bills on the ceiling.

I asked one of the waitresses how much was on the ceilings. Guess how much she said! If you follow me on Snapchat, you already know. As a matter of fact, follow me there and on Instagram - @BerryDakara.

I had to confirm with another waitress to make sure I heard correctly - 2.5 MILLION DOLLARS!!!

The food wasn't bad. The burgers were HUGE!!! And they had all kinds of random burgers like Peanut Butter, Pizza, Hot Fudge and more.

I don't know when this photo happened. Or why I wasn't invited to the sibling group hug. Boooooo!

We're in England right now and it's pretty chilly today and rain's in the forecast so I'm not sure if we're going out today.

  1. Just one question biko. Is that real money? And why is it on there? Like can't someone steal it?

It looks like such a good day out. Nigeria could have so so much more. I get so weak when I think of the tourism potential in that country.

I've kinda wanted to bury someone in the sands. I love that photo of you holding the Pensacola Beach thingy. See you soon!

ps: You just had to show us the yellow shorts you wore under! hahaha

    1. The first question Kachi asked is what I was going to ask! Why is the money hanging there?

    2. As in! I had to ask about the money. All the bills are real, and yes, millions! I don't think it can be stolen sha. I think people sign the dollar bills and they pin them to the ceiling.

@ Kachi - Yeah, I had to show the shorts before some people start praying for my decency :p.
      - I want to be covered in sand! I want to know whether I'd feel cold or hot.

  13. I always love going to Pensacola. It's usually an annual thing for me and my family. In fact, if the weather holds up, I plan on going this week just to go. I'm from Louisiana, so Pensacola Beach is the closest beach to us that has the prettiest water.
