Big News!

Hello everyone!

I've been wondering when to put up this post, and how to do it. I've told a few people offline already and most of the reactions have been funny. The emotions generally start out as Shock. Then it transitions to Confusion. Then there's Sadness. And finally, a begrudging Acceptance. It's been like that for some of my friends and blog-readers-turned-friends. I won't drag it out and keep you in suspense, so here goes...

I'm leaving Nigeria and moving back to Atlanta. In less than a month.

*hides face*

I know. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the idea myself. Buying my one-way ticket a couple of weeks ago was the weirdest thing. Even the ticket agent asked, "One-Way? So you're not coming back?" And well, the answer is that I'm going indefinitely and I'm not sure when I'll return.

Cakes will be moving as well, but not at the same time as me. We've discussed it and while things are still uncertain, we're trusting God to help us with our transition.

I'm sure some of you have questions and I'll be happy to answer them here on the blog, or in a video. Just leave the questions below in the comments section.

But the most important thing is that I will continue blogging - I have no plans of quitting what is essentially my passion and I love all of you guys, so I can't stop.

P.S. Now you know why I stopped with the Weekend Posts.

I pray that things will only go upwards and forward for you with whatever you decide to do.

    Has Nigeria been too frustrating?
The few times I bumped into you at a thing, or saw you at NITC, they were great.
I hope you guys have a nice transition to life in Atlanta.

  20. I dont blame you at all. Nigeria is getting rather more difficult for many and having that option to leave is like a light of hope. Had a similar convo with hubby and we are still taking it easy for a while. When you are kids to the mix Nigeria is just crazy. Yod guide you and guard you on the journey.

I pray also that God continues to guide you on the path that he has designed for you to fulfill your purpose.

  22. Merry Berry,

Really big news! It was always a pleasure running into you at all those events. Your warm personality radiates beautifully, keep it up.

Thankfully, the internet has no geographical barriers so you'll always be near, if only virtually. Lol

I wish you the very best of blessings as you make the transition into this new phase of your life.

    Warm regards!

  24. You've been saying there's a big announcement for a while, but frankly, I never thought it'd be this! You seemed to have fit in so well into the Lagos life. Life in itself is all about journeys and experiences, and I hope you cherish the amazing experiences you've had so far in Nigeria. This move would probably mean lots of change, compromise and adaptation for you and cakes, but I hope you embrace it as a new chapter in life, with all the joy and laughter that it holds. All the best!

    1. Yup, there are a lot of changes and while I originally saw them with anxiety, I'm a little more excited about it. I like to be practical so I don't want to pretend there won't be challenges, but I'm hopeful for the best.

  27. First time I'm commenting here..Berry I wish u and Cakes all d best as u make this transition and I pray you will have nothing but testimonies 2 share with us of your move. I feel like u're my virtual sister lol I've followed your blog since u shared your engagement story or something similar on bellanaija and I read the blog weekly. I love your berry links that you share and actually introduced me to "the praying woman" website which saw me through a particular low point in my life. I'm droning now lol so I'll stop. Anyways my question is how were you able to convince Cakes 2 move or has that always been the plan for you guys? All d best

I'll put up a vlog possibly next week and address the move, so your questions will be answered.
