How are y'all doin? Sometimes I feel like I run out of things to blog about. I really wonder how Style bloggers do it, especially the ones who post frequently. Do they have to continually buy clothes to keep up with blogging? My guess is getting a lot of free or discounted clothes, as well as buying a lot of separates that they can create multiple outfits from (like a Capsule Wardrobe). I have many plans for my Vlisco separates (and will hopefully share them on the blog).
Anyways, for times when I don't know what to blog about, there are a few things that I do to come up with a post.
- Search within - By this I mean I go through a little memory jog to see if anything funny, or interesting has happened to me. Sometimes it can be from a conversation (like the ones I've posted here, here and here between Cakes and I). At other times, it can be from an experience like the post where I talked about being called out on my accent. Or more recently, my funny story about forgetting my clothes in the car while I went to the gym.
- Find the numbers - This point is something that Tuke Morgan and Cassie Daves have down pat!!! For instance, they can create multiple posts out of one outing. I have also tried that route. An example would be my weekend post where I showed off my Toju Foyeh dress, and then my review of Johnny Rockets where I wore the dress to. As a matter of fact, if I was very good with makeup and trying to do tutorials here, I would have also put up a makeup post and a tutorial on how to put braids in a bun. See? It just takes a little imagination and creativity.
- Copy others - When I say copy, I don't mean that you should go and copy someone's blog post and pretend it's yours. I wouldn't even say that you should copy everything and link back to that person. What I mean is that you can be inspired by a blog post, put your own spin on it, and then create a post for yourself. If you are copying, it's best to do a tag, e.g. 100 Questions tag, or a What's In My Bag post.
- Search "Blog Post Ideas" - Go to Google and type in "Blog Post Ideas." Trust me, you might get overwhelmed with the number of posts that you could potentially write!!!
So those are my tips. How do you come up with ideas for your blog posts?
I am new to the blogging world, so I still have so many blog post ideas. But I like the idea of creating multiple post out of one outing. And also google is always a bae. Thanks for sharing.

Make sure to write your post ideas down somewhere, so you don't forget them. I would also suggest spacing them out - that way you know you have content for a few months down the line.
DeleteReally great advice indeed, thanks for sharing!

DeleteOh the Blog Struggle 😫. Sometimes I just want to arrrgh and arrrgh some more but then I take to other blogs and get some inspiration from them.

Yup, so much inspiration from other blogs!
DeleteHehe! I needed this one! Haven't touched my blog in a month! Been solo busy. Have many ideas but can't put pen to paper (finger
ReplyDeleteBeing busy can be "detrimental" to blogging. If you have any downtime, you can use it to write out your posts. Or if you have the Blogger/Wordpress app on your phone, you can write your drafts during your lunch break and finish them off at home in the evenings.

DeleteI needed to read this. Thanks Berry!! This has been me for for almost 2 weeks now. I'm a hair blogger (momashairjourney.blogspot.com) and I haven't put up a post in a while because I've basically run out of ideas. But like you said I'll search within...
ReplyDeleteYes! Search!!! Reviews, hair style tutorials, hairstories, hairspiration, etc. I'm sure you'll come up with something :)
DeleteHiya,
ReplyDeleteVery meaningful post, I agree with the advice that you gave Leona "Make sure to write your post ideas down somewhere", that really helps me a lot.
Ah! The much dreaded grey cloud that is 'Writer's Block' that no blogger wants hovering over their head, lol. Blogging requires dedication, and I am inspired by bloggers like you, who really engage their readers.
I've learnt that the comment box is an asset. It should be a two-sided conversation, which I why I love blogs like yours as you reply your readers' comments :-) Sometimes, the comments even provide inspiration for another post !
With my blog, I've found that there are 3 categories of readers - the ones who are interested in the 'musings' portion of the post, the ones who are interested in the 'sewing process' and the ones who are interested in the 'finished garment'. I try to balance all 3 so that the post is as interesting as possible.
I get stuck sometimes, thanks for the tips.
ReplyDeleteI was off blogging from the 21st of may till 1st of aug because I couldn't articulate my thoughts. I had blog ideas, but I couldn't put down anything. Some call it writers block. It wasn't a funny experience at all. I had to talk myself into scheduling posts for 1st week in Aug. I even went as far as copying someone's post and linking back/crediting the writer. But now I'm getting my groove back, thanks Berry.....www.coralconfetti.com
ReplyDeleteI have just began my blog and these tips have been helpful, Thanks so much for sharing :D
ReplyDeleteLool, yes that works and I also try to space out my posts so I don't run out of ideas fast.
ReplyDeleteInstead of posting on the 3rd,4th,5th. I'll rather post 3rd, 6th, 9th
