RANT: Morning People

Hi friends!

This is kind of a rant, but not quite because while I don't consider myself to be a morning person, I'm not exactly a night owl either. Here's the thing, I'm not an As-Soon-As-I-Wake-Up person. There are people that wake up and it's all bright and cheery, and birds are singing, and they're all CHEERIO, LA-DI-DA, TOP-O-THE-MORNING-TO-YA-MATE! Somebody like Cakes.

I am NOT in any way, shape or form, that person. I like to take my time in waking up (unless I wake up late and have to rush to work or church or wherever). My alarm snoozes for 30 minutes - I wish I could make it an hour. I don't like to be spoken to as soon as I wake up - Cakes wants to share and care bright and early. Nope, no music, turn the music off NOW! Cakes wants to listen to Worship songs as soon as he wakes up. I'm not interested in any form of light as soon as I wake up. Cakes will have his BRIGHT AS THE SUN phone light on, the AC light switch is on, the fan light is on, errythang is just blawdy on! I need to get used to being awake before I put any food in my mouth. Cakes can cook for Africa as soon as he steps out of bed. Me? Not so much.

I need to be fully awake for about 30 minutes before I can start to function like the happy bunny that I am. Anything before that (poor Cakes is a witness), I'm just the grouchiest, grumpiest, get-outta-my-face-est person!!!

morning person

:D

Have a nice weekend errbawdy!

    1. LOL! Sometimes I use my 2 phones because 1 alarm isn't enough to wake me up.

  5. Looll. I'm not a morning person too. I am a serious night owl. My brain consumes info in the morning, and churns out ideas at night. i.e. I'm more brilliant at night, lol.. Once I wake up, I pray, work out, do water therapy, then I can be off to start the day.

    1. That's because it IS punishment! *sigh* Saying that though i'm such a morning person if i get to wake up on MY OWN TIME! Not by alarm or even worse, phone ringing!

    2. @ Sisi Yemmie: You're not a morning person. :p

@ Reni_LTV: Exactly. I hate being woken up by a ringing phone. I always make sure Cakes' phones are on silent before going to sleep.

  7. I am so not a morning person.
I love sleeping very late and waking up late.
However work beckons during week days so I sleep as late as I can possibly manage and then run off to work.

    1. Hehe, sleeping too late will just make you only more irritable and tired in the morning.

  8. Story of my life. I set my alarm like an hour earlier so I can just deceive myself that I have an extra hour of sleep. And I have 8.30am classes this fall I always feel like shit.

    1. When you wake up later than usual, it's harder to wake up. I totally agree.

  11. I wake up in stages also. Every morning I wish I didn't have to wake up for work. Thank God for Abuja, traffic is light. I wake up 7am and by 8:30 I am at work.

    1. Mehn, waking up at 7am is a luxury. If I try it, I won't get to work before 9:30 or 10.

  12. I'm definitely a night owl. It doesn't matter how many hours I've slept 8hrs or 2hrs, I'm grouchy for the next 3hrs after I wake up in the morning. I don't like people talking to me, I'm like "go away and leave me alone". I've had enough lectures in my lifetime to "help" me snap out of it but it doesn't work. Funny thing is, if I wake up at midnight or 1am I'm good. Cheerful even. It's the hours of 3-8 I turn into a monster.. lol..

    1. Yup. If it's not Christmas morning, I'd rather wake up slowly. Nope, now is not the time to ask me questions. Nope, now is not the time to get into a discussion. Nope, now is not the time to tell me that see, what had happened was... I just will not be able to understand you.

But please, no waking up at midnight either. Can a girl sleep?! I put my phone on silent the night before my birthday because I just can't deal with the phone calls.

    2. You get it! Don't call me at 12am on my birthday o. I leave the phone on for about 10 minutes, in case my Mom is going to call and pray for me. If it doesn't ring by 12:10, it goes off.

    3. LOL @ Sim! These days my phone's on silent anyways, so no "disturbances"

  13. lol @ i'am more brilliant at night
The write up describes me!!! I am so not a morning person. Really don't understand how people can be so chatty so early.
Consider me fully awake when i open my mouth and speak, even at that i decide whether to engage in a chat with you or not.

  15. What Folake said.

I'm definitely a night person and absolutely hate early mornings. Doesn't matter if my alarm tone is the soothing music of Yanni.

Oh, may I add that I think every office should run flexi-hours. The adult world as it is right now needs to do more to accommodate non-morning people. NOT FAIR!!!

My office does, but it's either I wake up early and avoid traffic or wake up when I feel like and sit for 2 hours in traffic going to work :(

  16. Definitely not a morning person. There are so many times i have been tempted to call in sick at work just because i was enjoying my sleep.

  17. At last! I have people like me. I thought I was the only one. Everyone at home thinks I am weird. My boyfriend calls me pentium 2 lol. I need to "booth" for a while in the morning before I can function well. Sometimes I snooze my alarm from 5.30 till 6.30 lol.
