Married until proven single

Funny title, right? Well, it's a phrase I came up with today. Why? Because I met a guy recently who had been VERY flirtatious. I kinda kept him at arms length for undisclosed reasons. He'd tell me he thought I was hawt, smart, funny, etc... How he would like to spend time with me and get to know me better... Wanted to take me to one place or another. I gracefully rebuffed his advances.

To cut the long story short, a mutual friend and I saw evidence that raised our suspicions. We weren't sure who to ask, and had both never noticed a wedding band on his finger. I made the move to ask him directly, because I really hate it when married men hit on me. [Un]surprisingly, he admitted he was married but in a long-distance marriage. Which brings me to my point...

In 2013 I want to...

As promised, here's my list of S.M.A.R.T. Goals for 2013! Hopefully, come December 31, 2013 I would have checked every single thing off!

Berry Dakara's S.M.A.R.T. Goals of 2013

On New Year's Resolutions

Hi everybawdy!

So it's 2013 and it's time for New Year's resolutions, which means LISTS LISTS LISTS!

Whether I actually love lists is up for debate, but being able to tick things off lists is like an extra sprinkling of sugar on a juicy jelly doughnut! Now, resolutions are cliche and usually made to be broken, so in my family we prefer to focus on GOALS. Erm, I can't say that calling them goals makes any difference, but it just makes us feel more serious about them.

Welcome to 2013 and my new blog!

Hey everyone,

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Anita - however, I have had almost 25 nicknames in the past ranging from Anita Baker to MzzNita to Buttermint to Berry Choco Latte. I think it's time for a new nickname that will stick.

BERRY DAKARA

I've got 2 reasons for this nickname...

  1. It sounds VERY similar to my middle name.
  2. It fuses my Ogoni (dad) and Igbo (mum) heritage together. How so? Berry's an Anglicized short form of one of my Igbo names. And Dakara's also short for my Ogoni name. The only thing missing is my Itsekiri heritage (maternal grandmother). But it might be doing a little much - Berry Dakara Misan? Let's stick to Berry Dakara.
