Woohoo! Weekend's here again. I haven't decided if I'll be out and about or sitting at home. I had a health scare at the beginning of the week, so I might be forced to stay home all day Saturday. I do want to go to LPM on Sunday though. I just know there's some necklace or top or skirt or anything that's waiting for me to come and purchase her.
Regardless of whether I stay home or not, my post yesterday reminded me about how when I was younger, people said I looked like Patra. I'm not sure how. Back then, I really wasn't happy about that comparison. I was in SU (Scripture Union) and being compared to Patra made me feel bad. But truth is, I enjoyed her music. And so I shall start off my flashback with her :)
DISCLAIMER: I didn't watch her videos as a child, so I'm really not familiar with them and I'm just posting without watching them. Therefore if you are offended by any video, don't blame me. But they can't be as raunchy as Rihanna or Nicki Minaj, right?
P.S. All the videos/songs are from 1995. Mehnnnnnnnnnnn, 1995. I was 13 years old going to SS2 from SS1. I had had my first boyfriend (rolls eyes... saw him at my sister's traditional wedding 3 years ago, and he boldly asked me to have an affair with him). I was kissed at 13, but can't remember if it was in '95 or '96.

Guess what I want to do now...
No, it's not plastic surgery to give me a permanent Joker smile... It's hair related.
Well, it's either of 3 things or a combination of all of them if I can. Make that 4 things.

Stage Fright!!!
Hey hey hey!
How are ya? How was your weekend? Mine was jam-packed! And I can tell you that I spent at least 2 hours in traffic. I don't understand why there should be a huge traffic jam on a Saturday afternoon or night in Lekki - especially Oando/Jakande roundabouts. It's so infuriating that I'm thisclose to staying home every weekend from now on - unless Cakes is driving.
On Friday afternoon, our dance/drama ministry leader asked if I could help out with a very short skit at church for yesterday's service. I was available, and agreed. It was a short skit with 2 others from the team. We had a cafe setting, and I was the waitress - the purpose of the skit was to let the church know about the Cafe Rouge Ministry in my church. You can read about them here.
BUT about 45 minutes before we had to get on stage, I started feeling the familiar churning in my stomach, my heart beat began to pick up pace, and I knew that I didn't want to participate in the skit anymore. I tried to rehearse my lines, and I kept making mistakes. I was having a mini panic attack. When I mentioned it to our leader and the other actors, 2 of them laughed at me, thinking I was joking. They said that I'm such a good actress and there's no way I can have stage fright. I explained that whenever I have to get on stage, I feel literally sick to my stomach and freak out inwardly... as soon as I step on stage, it's a completely different story... and then when I get off, I'm thanking God it's over.
Yesterday, I prayed, "God, this skit is for you. You have a message you want to get out. I am forgetting my lines. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE speak for me, because I'm afraid I'll mess everything up." You would think the prayer would calm me down, but I was still panicking backstage. And then, I got on stage and it was an out-of-body experience. It's like I was watching myself. The lines came out so smoothly. I wasn't trying to remember lines - they just came out of my mouth. I remember thinking "Wow, God is the one talking o," while I was on stage. After the skit was done, I was so relieved and went back to my seat. When the service was over, different people came up to congratulate me on a job well done. Little did they know how nervous I was beforehand.
Unfortunately, I don't have a video of the skit yet, but you can watch this scene from a play we did last year, where I played King Herod's wife. Believe me, I wanted to throw up before going on stage.
Even though I get stage fright, I have to say that I do enjoy acting a lot :)
Have a nice week.

First Date Deal breakers
Hey hey,
So I just got off Verastic's blog, and she and her fiance have been arguing about whether it's acceptable to use Groupon/Living Social/Dealdey coupons on a first date. Her fiance says it's fine if the price of the deal is over a particular amount. She says 'Hell to the NAW. Coupons can be used later as the relationship progresses, NOT on the first date.' I'm inclined to agree with her fiance, because I've used coupons in the past, and I don't see a big deal about it. However, it should be a deal that's worth a reasonable amount.
The post got me thinking about deal-breakers for First Dates. And it made me recall one particularly bad first date I had shortly before I met Cakes. Here are some of the reasons why that date was a deal-breaker for me...

Exes at weddings... Yay or Nay?
So I went to a wedding once, and we were all having fun - the couple looked great, the music was good, the food was better... and then at one point, I turned around in my seat, and who did I see? The bride's ex-boyfriend! Not only was he her ex-boyfriend, he was her JERK of an ex-boyfriend too. And I couldn't help but wonder why in the heck he was there. From what I know, it wasn't a good breakup, so she couldn't have invited him. I did see the groom hanging around their table, so maybe they know each other? But would he have felt comfy enough to invite his bride's ex? I dunno. I just thought it was weird.
Cakes and I agreed to not have exes at our wedding. Well, I agreed reluctantly, because I don't have hard feelings towards a couple of my exes. Cakes doesn't either, but he's from the school of thought that doesn't think you can be friends with your ex (I think you can, and I AM). I think that there are a few criteria that must be met before you should put your ex on your wedding guest list...
What do you think? Exes at weddings are a GO or a NO?

- It was NOT a bad break-up. Nobody cheated on anybody, nobody was abusive or neglectful or disrespectful or hated anyone's friends and/or family. It should have been a clean break-up. Like maybe distance, or you just weren't compatible...
- You are SIMPLY friends, and there is absolutely no wishing or hoping or thinking or praying that you'll get back together.
- Your betrothed is OKAY with your ex attending the wedding. And if your ex is dating someone new (or has gotten married/engaged), then their new person has to be okay with it too.
