Christmas/Anniversary Weekend

Hey errbawdy!

Thanks so much for the congratulatory messages here on the blog, IG, Facebook, etc. They really added to our day, and we wish you lots of love in return :)

So how was your Christmas weekend? For us here in Nigeria, we have Boxing Day off as well, so it was a 4-day weekend for us! Honestly, all I wanted to do was just rest. I wanted to spend some alone time with Cakes (more on that later), and have a generally quiet Christmas. I think I mostly wanted Christmas Day to be quiet because Cakes had been busy at work for days on end, and I wanted him home with me so that we could celebrate our first married Christmas together. Well, THAT didn't happen, as the bakery had bunches of orders and I didn't see him until afternoon. I can't even lie, I wasn't happy and was just in a funk for most of the day.

On the bright side, I got this pretty pair of pumps from Cakes Wakesy.

By Boxing Day sha, I had already prepared my mind knowing that Cakes would be working all day long. He had to work all day because there was no way I was going to let cake orders overshadow MY (yes, I said MY) anniversary. So, I slept and slept and slept and slept, then ate, slept some more, watched TV and tried to figure out what we'd do for our First Anniversary. Well, late Friday night, I came up with the genius plan that we'd go relax at a spa and possibly have dinner afterwards.

On Saturday morning, I called up 2 spas, and just one of them had space that afternoon, so I set up the appointment and told Cakes what time he had to be home (yes, he was at the bakery AGAIN). As soon as he got home, I kidnapped his phone (but was nice enough to post a message on his status that I was hijacking his phone and wouldn't allow calls or texts for the rest of the day). IT WORKED!!! I mean, yes it's business and business means money, but a girl needs her husband's 100% attention sometimes!!! Even though he was worried about the phone and messages he could be missing, he was a good sport and didn't turn it on until early Sunday morning. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

We drove off to Apples and Oranges Spa for a 4-hour spa package. We got massages, facials, sauna treatments, manicure/pedicure, and tuna sandwiches. It wasn't small money but we needed that getaway relaxing time.

After our spa date, we went to dinner at Ocean Basket (whatever happened to their sushi menu?!?!). As usual, their food took too long to come and when it did, some of the seafood was cold. But we were hungry, so we just ate happily.

When we left, we took in the beautiful Christmas lights display on Ahmadu Bello Way next to Bar Beach.

I wish I could have come out of the car to take pictures, but ain't nobody about to come crying that her camera was stolen.

And that's my final weekend update for 2014. I hope you had a pretty one. Here's to a great week and fabulous end to 2014 for you.
